Have you read "How to win friends and influence others"?

    That's a two-faced pocket guide.

Damn, i thought gatsby would be good from first reading the first page.

Yeah, start with the first one in the series.

    I recommend this book. http://www.amazon.com/Age-Manipulation-Confidence-Sin-Sincere/dp/0819186538/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296611538&sr=8-1

Yeah... I really didn't know what the person was expecting. I don't understand the jew thing too much, as in, why/how it matters. he's not a scientist or an expert. most of the statements he makes are rooted in his own experiences and his own investigative journalism. sensationalist? sure, but what else can be expected from a fiction writer writing non fiction.

    i still loved the book.

"Well, I did some research, and after discovering that he had BOTH his boys circumcised, that was it for me. I can't take a man seriously who is more concerned about de-beaking chickens than he is about the welfare of his own child and his right to genital integrity. Poor kids... While daddy was off on the farm worrying about a pig supposedly for their sake, they had part of their penis chopped off. I wish he'd worried a little more about his children and written a book on circumcision instead.

I had high hopes for this book, perhaps due to its great marketing, and was deeply disappointed. Everything was accompanied by incredible bias, was presented with fluffy facts, and was extremely sensationalist. "

"Jonathan Safran Foer has revealed some disturbing and interesting facts, but as I read, the Jewish/American slant of the book made me wonder: If having a child caused Foer to have a "new beginning" and need to get to the bottom of why and how we eat animals for the sake of his newborn boy, did he consider the welfare and rights of his child before allowing a doctor to strap him to a table, place a dab of "anesthesia" on his penis, and brutally excise his foreskin with a clamp or sharp pair of scissors shortly after birth? Circumcision is a highly barbaric, and extremely dated (not to mention painful) tradition, and of all the things a Jewish father (or any father, really) has to worry about, you'd think this would be high up on the list, especially given the fact that he was "beginning again.""

It's actually still a highly good read, because it's written in the narrative form, detailing
anecdotes of JSF and how he came to his conclusions.

I'll take that to mean something that challenges you to question convention:
here are five books you should read:

Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer
    Visual Intelligence by Donald Hoffman
Rachel and her Children by Jonathan Kozol
    Trade-Offs by Harold Winter
You Are Not A Gadget by Jarod Lanier
