It's been six months since the tragic death of DJ AM. While fans still remember him, it's his close friends who miss him the most.

Blink-182's Travis Barker was probably one of his closest friends. They toured the nation together, performing a live set consisting of drums and two turntables.

To honor the memory of his late friend, Barker recently got some fresh ink permanently etched onto his thigh by famed Los Angeles tattoo artist, Mister Cartoon.

The piece features the words "In Memory of DJ AM" over clouds, bursts of sunlight and an angel in prayer.

Travis tweets about it on Twitter:

at first, i was thinkin, where did he get it done at since he's covered for the most part. on the thigh tho, kinda odd place. why not the calf if your gonna do it on your leg unless thats done.

well, consider that he's already heavy on the tats, this may have been the best available canvas to work with.

the angel has a meaning behind it, its a cherub version of dj am ...i still find it weird as f**k that dude almost died in a plane crash then he dies from an OD like a year later...thats some paranormal ish going on

no...that's some "i'm depressed from hearing all of my friends die but me and travis, so i'ma be on drugs for a year until i die" sh*t.

prob got it on his thigh because he's a drummer and he's constantly sitting and it will always be in his site...

That makes sense but hed have to be naked or wear real short shorts when playing. i doubt hell do that.

lol, exactly. Im not feeling the way he did the angels tears, but its a cool tat. Trying to get me a new one this week.
