I spent about four hours last night writing this article, and was hoping some of the BX crowd would check it out. What other songs do you feel could have made the list?

What was your criteria for picking songs to be on this list?

Just overall influence in the hip-hop community. The songs people have been talking about or making people take notice of new artists. Had to be given single status by the artist. I highly considered putting Cashin' Out on the list for example, but despite it's "popularity" I really don't feel it has much influence in the grand scheme of things.

I think the single was enough to blow up his Yellow Album and get the nod from MMG as a potential candidate for signing. Can you think of singles from this year that have done more for an artist's career?

Is this list in order?

And you really think that Born Stunna is one of the best rap singles on 2012?

Sorry for deleting that previous post, but to be honest, I haven't really heard anyone talk about that Dom Kennedy single.

Yeah the list is in order. Don't get so heated though, the reason I posted it here was for healthy debate lol.

Yeah, that was heavily considered as well. Although he still sort of sit's at Ca$h Out status due to his small number of hits no?

Kief should take Dom's spot on the list.

The song got him a Kanye co-sign and a star-studded remix. Made the Chicago hip-hop scene semi-relevant once again. Co-signs from almost every artist in the game. Birdman, Jeezy and others trying hard to sign him. Lands a record deal/movie deal/Beats by Dre line with Interscope. All at the age of 16/17.

All off of one single.

You think Dom has more hits than Cash-Out and Kief?

Most of the buzz surrounding Chief Keef's "I Don't Like" single is because of Kanye's remix, which is why when he announced it the entire world went "WHO?".

Having said that, this list is splattered with G.O.O.D. Music records so I guess it comes down to preference.

I really dig "I Don't Like", but again on a list of twelve something is always gonna miss the cut. I don't deny that a very good argument could be made for this song, so I guess my only answer is sorry for leaving it off. I still however disagree about Dom, because he DOES have more hits than both of those artists.

You aren't the first person to tell me that either, to be honest I may have slept on that one. I've been off the Lupe hype for a few years now.

Also, for anyone who is arguing in favor Chief Keef's "I Don't Like" it hasn't actually been given single status. The Remix however, like I said lost the battle to another G.O.O.D. music track, Mercy.

Not the list I would have based on my personal preference...in fact it would probably be hard for me to name 12 official singles I actually like from 2012, but I think the article is well written and the list is what I would pretty much have expected to see. Surprised "Stay Schemin" or "Amen" were not on the list.
