It sucks that Hip Hop lacks longevity. U have genres like Rock and R&B where artists still make music no matter how old they are. There are some hip hop of artists who still make good music between the ages of 35-40 but at the end of the day, u realize Hip Hop appeals more to the youth.

Whats sad is that the rappers who debuted in the 90's are better than 95% of new rappers that has been coming out.
There were a lot of dope rappers that debuted in the 80's but when the cats in the 90's came out they k!lled it in a way that most of the 80's dudes couldn't keep up. The 2k youngins hasn't elevated the game and most of them are behind the 90's vets.

I think teenage rappers and rappers in their early 20s should stop putting out music. These morons have absolutely nothing worth mentioning.

Personally alot of theses cats that be putting out new music past their prime often sound outdated and in the long run their legacy is often forgotten because they can't keep up making dope music like they used to.

The way I see it, rappers are like athelets, at one point in your carrer you need to realize that you ain't got the skills like you used to and maybe it's just time to move on. If you look at theses cats almost in their 40's that still are making music today most of them, skill wise have defenetly fallen off, whether it's Jay-Z, Nas and many others, they still make some good records here and there but nothing like before.

I agree with you bout the music in the 90's. As long as they put out good music should we care about there age? We dont care about age in other genres, why should we care about it in hip hop???

As long as the music remains in good standing, then I don't see why they have to stop. It shouldn't have an age limit. Truth is, a lot of the older cats that's rapping now, really don't have some good younger rappers to pass the tourch too.

^^^^ this

scarface and willie d put out a formula that a lot of talented cats picked up on... and they my mans willie d is locked up but him and face haven't fallen off in the slightest pushing 40... if anything these young cats should soak up game from them... these old cats actually came from the golden era of hip hop, they take more pride in actually putting out quaity music

dumb thread
