Should Rappers in their 40's stop putting new music out? |

| By gacha - 05-05-2010, 11:33 AM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot I grew up listening to music from the 90's and to me it's the best era in rap music but that's just my opinion, and listening to thoses artists from that era nowadays it's just not the same. Personally alot of theses cats that be putting out new music past their prime often sound outdated and in the long run their legacy is often forgotten because they can't keep up making dope music like they used to. The way I see it, rappers are like athelets, at one point in your carrer you need to realize that you ain't got the skills like you used to and maybe it's just time to move on. If you look at theses cats almost in their 40's that still are making music today most of them, skill wise have defenetly fallen off, whether it's Jay-Z, Nas and many others, they still make some good records here and there but nothing like before. |

| Rap is like technology, you should evolve with it. Rappers who are not good should stop rapping, unless you provide evidence that turning 40 can decrease the quality of your music, I don't see the point. A good rapper should stop when ever the audience is done with him. But since humans are so obsessed with youthfulness, the audience will probably stop listening even if the rapper is making quality music. Your career only last as long as your looks. | snoop dogg is a prime example...he raps as if hes tied into a 30 album contract and is trying to push out as many albums as he can per year and only has 2 hours of studio time to finish each album...his rhymes are so !!in weak and repetitive...yall realize he rhymes "kid cudi" with "buddy" 3 times in all 3 of the songs he has with cudi ? | no they should, i dont understand why they should. they arent like athletes...they are rappers. and for every person like you that thinks they fallen off and they should stop, theres another one that still likes, still bumps, and still appreciate the work they put out. that goes for all artist, go as long as you want | |

| age shouldn't matter. if people are going to buy your album, why not put out new music. it'd be kinda stupid not to. everyone hating on Jay cause he's old or whatever, but he still drops better !! than 95% of the game. | |

| If the 90s was your golden age in hip hop (mine too btw) then you should long for artists of that era to make new music. And ask whether rappers in their 20s need to be putting out new music. | |

| I think because hip hop is relatively newer than most other genres of music we arent used to seeing older dudes perform or come out with fresh material.. and you gotta remember hip hops fanbase was teens and young adults in the early 80's so if you were 20 back in '80 and your 50 now you could still be a hip hop head without a problem because you were there from the start.. i just saw roger waters from pink floyd perform and hes in his 60's.. rock was out a few decades before rap so thats why old rock stars still perform and record.. hip hop is no longer in its early stages and therefore we have to start getting used to older dudes on the mic.. if they are still making good music why let age stop them from expressing themselves and us from appreciating their work?
