| By Budala - 03-17-2010, 08:40 AM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot Sure Jay has more cd's under his belt, but the quality over quantity is where Kanye takes it. Not saying Jay didnt make a classic but at the same time he has some shady albums that would never see rotation in your car. Kanye raps and has made some of the hottest beats in hip-hop/r&b. His music videos >>> most of the rappers in the game. Only thing slowing this dude is his arrogance... Before any of you Jay-Z fans have a meltdown remember that internet is not real and this is a opinion. Discuss. | |

| If you mean Kanye is both a rapper and producer then of course he has more talent all around. But rap for rap no one is f**king with Hov. | |

| Kanye is the most over-all talented musician in popular music today, not jus rap, but the whole music scene period, as far as bar for bar tho, jay-z is arguably the greatest, Kanye is top 10 dead or alive tho as a rapper | |

| musically or lyrically? cuz in either arena..it's not close. Kanye musically and Jay-Z lyrically ...but this is a rather retarded comparison, i think..just seeing how one does something the other doesn't. Last edited by YoungGQ; 03-17-2010 at 10:12 AM.. | |

| Jay has withstood the test of time making him one of the GOAT's in itself. HOWEVER, Kanye has been a contributing factor in that rise (and vice versa I understand this) but IN MY OPINION, Kanye is the better artist overall. Jay is a rapper that has constantly attempted to be more (mediocre clothing, premium and malt liquor) and has had marginal success in those ventures but Kanye on the other hand in a lot of respects transcends genre with some of his music, production, video concepts. You can't deny the fact that 808's wasn't exactly rap/hiphop but yet was still a great success. Not to mention the turn he helped usher in with designer fashion within the Genre overall. That sort of risk and reward is what really defines an ARTIST. Of course Kanye vs. Pharrell would be more comparable, and even then Ye wins for the simple fact that he does lyrics AND production pretty well. For the sake of this threat ye's got it. | |
