"The Bar Exam", and "The Bar Exam 2 (Cutz That Didn't Make It)" are probably his best releases, but again that's mostly over other peoples beats. "Bad Meets Evil" was a letdown so was "Rock City", "Street Hop" and "Success Is Certain". All that being said he's still in my top 5 right now, but that's off potential alone. I might have to change that if the next Slaughterhouse album and solo don't impress.

[rip] is Certain is a classic.
The reason i think Royce hasn't been as good because he's one of those rappers that are better when they are angry or going through tough times in life.

He's actually stated this a few times in interviews, either way the fall off wasn't too bad, he's still dope and better than most rappers today.

Coincidentally Royce has been saying stuff like life hasn't been good lately on twitter, so maybe this verse is the product of that. [pic]

Oh, for sure. When hes angry his music is on another level. Hopefully someone makes him angry soon haha. But that goes for most artists. You are your most creative when youre hungry, generally.

I have, plenty of times. I own a hard copy, and bought it the day it dropped around 10 years a go. It's just a matter of opinion, like I said before I'm a fan. Do you think Kendrick's "Section 80" is a classic too?

It's a classic, album is sick great concepts, sick punchlines and the rhyme schemes he drops i haven't heard anyone else do since they way he wrote some of those bars are just !!ing unreal. Add that to the classic premo joint add that to the epic anger he had on there and yeah its a classic. Hip Hop at its best.

To soon but that's a !!ing solid album, has a lot of depth to it. I would have thought it was passed over by a lot of people because of that. But its a very very good album....can't call it classic yet.

Royce's writing ability is what keeps him in my top 5. So I agree with you there. "Hip Hop" is still one of my favorite Royce songs. Overall the production isn't great, and conceptually It's not that original (to me). I don't consider too many albums classics. It has too hit on all points for me to consider it classic.
