| Rihanna Signs On As Ambassador For Tourism In Barbados |
| By SM - 08-09-2012, 12:04 PM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot Rihanna has reportedly signed on to become the face of tourism in Barbados for the next three years. The 'We Found Love' songstress, who was dropped from Nivea endorsement this week, has always repped her home country when travelling overseas, and the government has now enlisted her to officially take on the task of being "the face" of the small island. "Barbadian pop singer Rihanna has signed a three-year contract with the Barbados Tourist Authority (BTA) to promote the island," the Barbados Free Press blog reports. "According to BTA chairman Adrian Elcock, production on the promotional campaign is expected to begin soon and will be launched in September, in time for the winter tourist season. Elcock made the announcement Saturday, during the Crop Over press conference at the Hilton Barbados Hotel." The new role will make up for RiRi being dropped as the face of skincare brand Nivea, who say her new image is too secksy and raunchy for their family audience. If RiRi can represent an entire country, surely she's good enough for skin lotion? Is Rihanna a suitable role model to promote Barbados? | well, if barbados is selling secks and promiscuity as their main attraction then who better than Rihanna to be the spokeswoman. Besides, most island/exotic/peninsula countries have this as their hidden attraction anyway (Brazil). Barbados is making no secrets about it, good deal for both parties. | |
