Rihanna And Chris Brown's Relationship Up In Smoke?

Valentine's Day wasn't so lovely for Rihanna and Chris Brown.

The controversial couple both spent Thursday night at Hollywood's Playhouse nightclub, but eyewitnesses tell E! News they refused to sit near one another.

Rihanna arrived a half hour after Chris, and according to onlookers she looked "startled and upset."

She then apparently made it known she did not want to sit at Chris' table, and had the staff sit her as far away from him as possible.

An eyewitness says that when Chris noticed Rihanna was at the club, he made a huge show by buying a ton of bottles for his table.

Rihanna left shortly after, staying at the club for about an hour.

It looked like she wasn't happy he was there, the eyewitness adds.

Not exactly a romantic way to spend V-Day, guys.
