With Shady Records rapper Yelawolf continuing to gain a steady buzz on the label Eminem built, SOHH recently chopped it up with fellow Alabama rapper Rich Boy to get his take on the Southern rhyme spitter's rap game status.
Rich Boy said the entire state of Alabama is riding for Yela to continue succeeding in hip-hop.
"Yelawolf gets a lot of support down in Alabama," RB told SOHH. "I was working with Yelawolf before the whole [Shady Records] situation. I knew he was going to come through. I've got pictures of me [and him from ] two years ago, the song we did two years ago, with me, him and Jim Jonsin. But yeah, most definitely, we support him. He's our better half down here, we ain't on no racist !! so it's the best of the black and white world. Alabama right there. Black and white like paper work, you can't have paper work without those colors." (SOHH)
He also hinted at plans to hook back up with Yela in the near future.
"We're going to do one soon, man," Rich added when asked when we could hear them share the microphone again. "The last time I seen him, we were in Hollywood. He rocked a show out there. I most definitely support Yelawolf. I want to see his movement continue to [expand]." (SOHH)
Back in 2010, Rich Boy and Yela collaborated on their "Go Crazy" anthem.
You know what's funny? This time last year "Drop," uh, dropped and I knew it would go on to be Rich Boy's next big single. A&R fail on my part. Fast forward a quick 365 and we find ourselves in the same spot with Rich Boy toting another hard hitting single, "Go Crazy." This time Polow is replaced with Jim Jonsin (who's probably still spending checks off "Whatever You Like" and "Lollipop"). Recently, Yela lashed out at his internal problems with Interscope Records.
"Radioactive, the last project I put out, was deliberately given to Interscope, and it was on a f*cking silver platter, given to them to work. Radio records," Yela said in an interview. "Purposefully, it was my attempt. These motherf*ckers have given me one single in eleven months. I don't really understand where the importance is -- and that's just me being real. ...
