For some reason you seem to think saying "Life Is Good" having better production means the producers who produced are better overall than the ones who produced Illmatic. Nobody is saying that...

Na I know what this thread means, I'm just using the producers as a point that they gave some of(if not their best !!) to Illmatic. Nothing on the album sound as good as The World Is Yours or It Ain't Hard to Tell for me. And that's even after 18 years of aging while listening to LIG isn't even a week old.

I disagree, that album definitely sounds like its 18 years old. It didn't age as well as It Was Written like someone else said earlier.

Plus those beats you mentioned aren't that good imo. I'm not a huge fan of the sample on The World Is Yours (Dead Presidents >>> TWY instrumentally) and the bass behind the drums on It Ain't Hard to Tell overwhelms Nas' vocals.

The sample choices are damn near perfect on Life Is Good. A lot of people are saying Salaam gave Nas some of his best !!. I think the same case can be made for No I.D...

For the record, I see nothing wrong with someone saying they prefer the production (or overall music, for that matter) of Life Is Good over that of Illmatic, just because Life is good just droppped. For example, It didn't take me years, or months, or weeks, or even days, to come to the conclusion that Illmatic was a classic. I was honestly mesmerized the first time I heard it. I was moved. I loved it. I listened to it for days. It was a highlight of my youth (no !!).

To be honest, I love Life is Good and I loved it after the first listen. I already have no issue stating that I like it more than Stillmatic and probably more than It Was Written, as well. It's probably my second favorite Nas album. It's great. And IMO, it is clearly the best produced Nas album since Illmatic. Illmatic still has this magical, cohesive feel that has personally never been surpassed by any album before or since, but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with someone saying they prefer Listening to Life is Good, regardless of how new it is.

And btw, while It Was Written is one of my top ten favorite albums of all time, nonetheless, the production on LIG is clearly superior, IMO.
