A look at the Magnificent Evolution of The Boss

Rick Ross burst into the scene "Hustlin" from day one, and from the looks of it, the boss's hustle will not be stopped!! Today marks the release of Ross's fifth studio album God Forgives, I Don't under Def Jam/MMG, and since 2009, Rick Ross has been delivering the best in street anthems and smooth ride around with your chick type of music. In honor of Ross's release today, join us as we take you on a musical journey album to album, hit by hit on the evolution of Rick Ross.



Usually when an artist drops their first major album, they have a huge feature on their leading single but that was not the case for The Boss. In the summer of 2006 Rick Ross released his first single "Hustlin" which became an instant hit and a certified street anthem. The song was such a hit that even Jay-Z and Young Jeezy jumped on the remix. On August 8th of 2006 Rozay released his debut album Port of Miami, which to the surprise of many debuted at #1 on the Billboards Charts. The second single to the album was "Push It", which had Ross spitting about his Street Tales in the drug game over a Scarface sample. The album left us wanting to hear more about Ross and his dangerous lifestyle.



The sophomore effort from the Boss, Trilla was released on March 11th of 2008 under Def Jam/Slip-n-Slide/Poe Boy. No sophomore jinx here, as the Boss once again held the #1 spot on the Billboards. The lead single of the album "Speedin" featured R.Kelly, but did not make as much of an impact as his Hustlin record, but thats until the world got a hold of his second single "The Boss" with T-Pain. This marked the begining of the Boss era and proved that Ross was a force not to be recking with in the industry. For his third single Ross introduced us to his smooth persona, alongside St.Louie representative Nelly and Avery Storm. The Boss served up something that had dudes telling those Superwoman "Here I Am." Another successful release from the Boss.



Three for three for Rozay! The album Deeper Than Rap reaches the #1 spot on the Billboards. Along with the success from the album, came lots of controversy over the first song on the album "Mafia Music" A song that referenced 50 Cent and the issues with his baby momma.This ignited the 50 Cent/ Rick Ross feud, which BTW we are glad to see at peace for now! The album featured another street banger called "Maybach Music 2" featuring Kanye, Lil Wayne and T-Pain. Some of the realest ish Ross wrote in the back of his Maybach. In the most commercially successful single from DTR, The Boss shows off his "Magnificent" pimpin and sensational lifestyle with John Legend. Maybach Music Group was here to stay!



Today is another big day in the career of Rick Ross his much anticipated fifth studio album God Forgives, I Don't, is released. With guest appearances from Dr.Dre, Jay-Z, Andre 300, Nas, Ne-Yo and his fellow MMG members, the album is sure to have the success that Ross's previous albums have had. The lead single for the album is "So Sophisticated" which features MMG's very own Meek Mill. The second single which was released just a few weeks ago, and features "3 Kings." Dr. Dre to the surprise of many, jumps on a Rick Ross track along with Jay-Z and you can imagine the hit that we have on our hands.

One things for sure Rick Ross has been delivering the heat since 2009 and it looks like it may not be stopped. His street anthems always have dudes ready to rebel and his smooth joints make him a heartthrob to the ladies. God Forgives, I Don't looks like it may be one of those albums that we are going to be talking about for a while in Hip Hop.
