Life Is Good Will Be Deemed Classic....
By kiddrocay - 01-26-2013, 06:08 PM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot

cmon son we would all be in denial to say otherwise

all the songs connect in such a way that the listening experience is very very phenomenal

I think this album should be considered the third chapter, illmatic-IWW-LIG

this album tiger uppercuts stillmatic

somewhere.....somehow.... I think jay feels he needs to drop an album to compete with it

It was a great album on the first few listens but now it lacks replay value, not a classic.

As great as it is, it's somewhat forgettable. It's missing something man, and I can't put my finger on what it is. Great production, handful of great songs, not much filler, flows well from song to song, he was on his A game lyrically..etc. It just didn't have any "whoaa [pic]" moments outside of Worlds an Addiction. Even then, that joint wont even be remembered as one of Nas' top 20 songs. I think it's just a really good album. Nothin more, nothin less. Nothin game changing here...

oh we are talking about game changing classic, nah Im talking about how it fits into nas catalog

as a whole this album is one of nas best albums and one of the best ones hip-hop has had in years.

I mean it was like this album was needed, and on top of that the way ish is now nas still manged to stick to his own self and not do a bunch of different ish to get the attention of people

I know jay-z is in the works like "I must best this nicca, he cant be better than me" lol

It is a truly beautiful piece of work. I do think it will deserve to be deemed a classic. If not by everyone else, it probably will be for me. It is a very impressive album.

With that said, I think American Gangster is on par with it. Like someone said in another thread, LIG is what Kingdom Come wished it could be, or was supposed to be. Nas has mastered the angle that Jay has tried to corral but has failed at, which is making that mature sound that indicates a great deal of evolution while still remaining true to self, art, and the things that made you great in the first place.

I almost hate saying it because the phrase gets thrown around too much, but LIG is a true "grown man" album. This is the type of music that is fitting for someone who has been in the game as long as Nas and has had his experiences. It shows that Hip Hop can age well. If Nas keeps this up, he could be dropping new albums WELL into his 40s and they will sound fresh, and authentic. That's what LIG is...incredibly fresh, honest, authentic. Nobody in Nas' age bracket or with as many years in the game has shown the unique and natural capabilities that he has.
