 Late Pass: Long.Live.A$AP Was Decent...
33 By Retro - 01-12-2013, 04:55 PM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot

It wasn't as good as advertised. I saw a few people on here saying L.L.A. > GKMC & if anyone hasn't told you to do so already get the entire !! out of here. It's good for what it is, I wasn't even critiquing both using the same standards as it wouldn't be fair to. BUT, there's some ups & some downs on this album.

I didn't spin any of the singles besides Goldie so !!in' Problems was brand new to me. Drake tore a whole in that beat but everything else was underwhelming. Guess I had my expectations set too high due to the way it was received on here. Same thing with 1 Train.

The bonus tracks did help it out though. I would've replaced a few of the tracks with those (namely Hell, Wild For The Night & Fashion k!lla).

All in all it was still a solid album. Didn't live up to the hype from what my ears are telling me...

Just ordered my copy from Amazon....more than decent for me and I am what most would consider a dinosaur/old head on here. Only song I don't particularly like is Fashion k!lla but I don't need to skip it either. I agree with you and don't think it is better than GKMC but I enjoy it more from a musical stand-point. With GKMC I more need to be in a specific mood to play from front to back, whereas this album is a bit more eclectic and plays easier for my morning commute. Props on giving it a spin and giving it an honest opinion.

I liked it, not as much as his mixtape but still dope.

I enjoyed it a lot. Very good production, great flows throughout and he takes after Cam's swag.

Q and KRIT DESTROYED their features

From the way the thread blew up on here I figured it did. Didn't see anybody complaining about it.

Bonus tracks included it is better than decent. Just the LP by itself though, I won't go that far...

I'd rather compare L.L.A. to Jesus Piece. Even with the contrasting styles instrumentally (hell it's the same way with GKMC) they're closer to compare due to both artists and their non-chalant lyricism. I enjoyed Jesus Piece more than I did L.L.A.

I guess I felt like I was spending the entire album waiting for Rocky to body a track like he did Hands On The Wheel. That didn't happen up until Jodye & Angels -- two of the bonus tracks.

Maybe I'm wrong for expecting that type of emeeing from Rocky all the time. But that verse is what made me a legitimate fan after Peso.

I'll listen again, but as it stands right now: with the bonus tracks: 7/10; without 6/10...

The album sucked.

The Live Love A$AP went hard though. Only good songs on Long Live A$AP were Long Live A$AP, Goldie and !!in' Problems. The rest of the album was trash. I was disappointed.

1 Train and Ghetto Symphony are the standout tracks

I really enjoyed it. Outside of Ross, Rocky has the best beat selection.

8.5/10
