Yeah, honestly I was dissapointed by this album too when it first came out....but I lost my mind the first time I heard the beat to You Don't Know. I felt that his flow had stepped down from Vol 2 and 3, and he was using this offbeat conversational flow that was hard to get used to at first. I was like, why's he rapping like that lol. At the time, I was suprised that the album got 5 mics in the source, but as the years went on, I gained more respect for the impact it had. Til this day, it's still not one of my fav Jay albums.

Reasonable Doubt, American Gangster, and Black Album are my favs.

Sidenote: Mariah Carey's Glitter, and Fabolous first album dropped that day too.

why u mad for?

I prefer pain is love to bp, its reasonable enough, sold more and was produced exceptionally

ja may not be popular like he once was, but lets not act like everyone wasn't checking for his music, I hate hip hop revisionists, fact is the world was listening to Pain Is Love, its a great record, minus one overly successful commercial song.

Great record, no shame in admitting it

BP is a semi great record to, but there are few skippbles on it,

I was feeling the beats, not the lyrics. The production on the whole album is top notch, I just feel his lyrics wasn't on par with the hype. 5 mics, nah. #### was just like GRODT, hyped up and highly overrated
