Kanye had to be begged to let Cole on the Good Friday series.. then cole came with the verse of the year

Maybe they don't want to give Cole too many obvious handouts since he's the self-declared "chosen one". Both Ye and Jay had to struggle to get on as superstars. Maybe they want Cole to have some of the same pressure so he can go even harder.

You don't wanna look back in 20 years and say "Oh he's not all that cuz Jay-Z gave him every handout in the book." You wanna say "That man deserves his props cuz he barely got mentioned by his megastar affiliates and still manages to come out on top."

I don't think he's talking about Jay & Ye in that quote & its like Nyuzi said -- they want Cole to make his own way, not just be[..]ociated with them.

I know I wouldn't like it if J. Cole acted like he needed Yeezy & Jay to make tracks.

Oh & he didn't beg to get on Looking For Trouble, it was the opposite. He freestyled his verse basically because Kanye wanted him on it at the last minute.
