has it been documented that 50 gets $8 off every cd? if he does that is definately rare. in most cases artists on major labels only see less than a dollar off of every album...the contract might state that they get more, but after recouping for videos, studio sessions, wardrobe, etc., most artists that you see on tv end up in debt to the record label. and on top of that, most artists don't even own their music at the end of the day. artists make their money from shows and appearances cuz when they sign a deal the record label loans them money up front, and the artist don't make a dime from sales til the record company is paid back

depends on ur label, now i kno when Game dropped, i read an article in a magazine saying he was gettin paid $.27 per album, which sounds reasonable, believe it or not for a debut artist to make

now u got Jim Jones on an indie label, all he pay for is distribution, which gives him roughly around 5-7 bucks an album, he can do 100k and make 500k, that is without gettin a plaque on his wall

ok next is flip. lil flip has his own label and distribution company, so he gets every cent put into his album back, he makes 10 bucks an album

don't 4get about touring, which is where most of their revenue comes in

o one more thing, they still got to pay back that big a.ss advance check they get when they get signed. that is just a loan to get them off the corner, and they got to pay for studio time, and if u major u gonna get producers like Swizz Beats, Just Blaze, The Neptunes, who charge like 100k for a beat (which i think is fu*king ridiculous if it is not a hit), then u got the Heatmakerz, indie producers who charge like 15k for a beat

it all depends on stuff like how much the contract allows them to receive from each albums sold, how much royalties they must pay out to other musicians for sampling, distribution, publicity, if they own there record lable ect...

every aristist recieves a different amount for each album sold.
