Music aint doin !!...Majority niccaz in the hood are on makin money, not listenin to rap music and copying what it says...thats more of a white community thing

| hip-hop has everything, from !! my parents can relate to adn the whole world to like (Lose yourself-eminem) to some gangsta !! like ( Vato- snoop) and everything in between !! u can dance to (lil john feat usher) and some !! that seem lil boring if u not the hip-hop state of mind like GZA, but most !! is uplifting, even 50 with all the hate parade goin on around him can spit sum real uplifting !! like god gave me sltyle. Its not hip-hop the problem, its ignorant people thinkin these dudes make lots of dough of what they rap and try to mimik the image while these dudes just portray an image to entertain us, while the sayin keep it real has lost his place in this culture not because of the rappers but because us as fans, need a real k#ller tu rap about k#lling while none of these dudes are k#llers. | |

To put it bluntly there are a lot of people out there who grew up in !!ed up situations. Not everyone was lucky enough to have a strong parental influence. Maybe it is because their parents were working all the time, maybe it is cause their parents were drunks, addicts or abusive, but it happens more often than a lot of people are willing to acknowledge. I too have grown up listening to hip hop. I used to bump Biggie and DMX while running around shooting people in Goldeneye for my N64, lol... and I turned out fine. I have a university education and a solid job, but I grew up with one hell of a mom... I know the effect of solid parenting, but that doesn't change my opinion. In today's society parental involvement is on a decline. Whether it is because both parents are working full time or because of the increasing divorce rate, it is happening. TV raises children in a lot of homes nowadays. Kids grow up reciting the ignorance that is promoted on TV (BET is a major example) and in music videos. At some point I think it is irresponsible to deny the damage that is being done. The music does have an effect.

| its not the music, but the people that are so depressed and oppressed that they think what they hear and see in entertainment is a way of life worth living; positive or negative. the solution? positive influence in commerce, religion, sports, education, entertainment, that creates for more positive messages. | |

| first i want everyone to talk about real hip hop. thats stupid[pic] Hip Hop has always been party music if im lying Peep some Sugar Hill Gang Hip Hop has always been social Commentary. I.E. Gangsta's Paradise The whole college dropout album *stupid opinion but still commentary* Lupe, Common, Immortal technique, Jeezy. If im lying then its obvious you dont listen to hip hop music.[pic] *you should know this since you biting kanye* Hip hop is hip hop as individuals we listen to what we relate to. If you relate to something i think is stupid that doenst make it not hip hop it makes it different from my particular taste. Soooooo stop hating it aint a good look.[pic] Alot of black communities are bad becasue there is no accountablity. The schools are bad....parenting *not all but most* sucks....and because its not hood to be intelligent those who make out the hood never comes back to contribute cuz they got clowned the entire time they were getting their education all they wanna do is rub thier sucess in the face of others. The music is a reflection of the life that is living in the hood and because there is no one showing the youth a better way there is no mentorship like i said no accountability of course they are gonna imitate what they hear in the music. Im not saying the artist shouldnt be aware of the effects of their music but its not their job to raise the youth in the hood. stop !!ing about the problem get off Boxden and go be a positive influence Last edited by KUMA_3; 01-08-2007 at 07:52 PM.. | |

Of course every once in a while it's a song like S.E.X. but the simple !! then got through so much it overlaps it.. and BET doesn't give a !! because it's selling.. they try to cover it up with their little Aid commercials, and dumb shows.. but how could a channel that has a !!in series dedicated to BEEF ever be positive.. its a shame... a damn shame [pic]

| If ya boy wanted to make a valid point, he needs more detail n evidence. I will say this... Hip hop is not the reason why we have poverty, violence, etc. in our communities. On the other hand, hip hop has a ma#sive impact on our society. The issues that it contributes arent as serious as poverty, its more about our characters as blacks. You watch BET n see ppl "makin it rain" (meanin throwin dollas everywhere), ridin rims, havin ladies wit juicy[..]es on em, etc. When the listeners/viewers see it, they get brainwashed into thinkin thats what they have to do to be accepted. Ppl develop this mentality that money is the key to acceptance, so in order to get money, they slang drugs, steal/rob, do scams. The influence that hip hop has is so strong that its kind of discusting to see how we act about money. A coupla times I was at the club out here in la n niccaz was walkin around purposely droppin dollas because they want to give off the baller image. Just like when some joints come on in the club they start holdin up their chains, throwin up their dollas, !! like that. As for women, they get called !!es for a reason. They watch videos n some of em try to diss dudes who arent financially straight, but flock to niccaz wit dubbs and nice material things. I dunno if its like this only in la but this material influence is outta hand. Bottom line, it all depends on the persons mentality and maturity level to see if they will really feed into the influence. I can go much deeper into this topic, but I wanted to keep it simple. But theres a coupla joints ya boy can hear, for a more positive outlook on hip hop. Common, Talib, Mos Def, some Kanye, some Nas, Lupe, ATHQ, Public Enemy. | |

As long as parents continue to ignore what their kids are doing, society will get worse. The kids need to know that they can't do what they heard in a song. Because it's just that. A song. !!in idiots.

| i hate to sound like a disgruntled old man, but hip hop is not what it used to be. the more it has been pushed into the mainstream of america (and exported around the world), and the more it has been marketed and sold - the essence of the music and culture has diminished. it used to be about who was the illest on the mic, who rocked the dopest shows, who came through with the most original style. now, if it don't make dollars it don't make sense. 50 cent makes dollars, young jeezy makes dollars. lil wayne, ti, dipset... these guys sell. they fit the mold of what record execs know will sell. they fit a sterotype of black america that white america wants to buy and live vicariously through. the record industry knows this. there, of course, are still hip hop artists that carry a postive message. some of them even are on the forefront of the mainstream (kanye, nas, jigga). mostly you have to look for it. and you're probably not going to find it on BET. | |
