Really. I grew up in the gangster era, and those rappers weren't saying much neither. But this whole dope boy era there seems to be no substance in the music.

Many mainstream rappers back then made it a priority to deliver dope verses whether it be with the flow, the metaphors, the delivery, etc. They didn't have to say much to get the point across that they could rap very well on a technical level. These dudes don't even try. They just blurt out whatever rhymes.
