Game-Documentary vs. Common-Be

By gotsalldabitche - 07-15-2005, 03:40 AM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot

Im gonna have to say GAME hands down. I mean commons was pretty good but its like a half an hour long and it gets boring after 2 or 3 listens. common aint really rapping tight shit either he didnt say no revolutionary shit and most of his punchlines werent so good either. Now games album(without hate it or love it and how we do, never heard this album with those songs on it) has hot production all the way through. he raps about a lot of different stuff. dont try and say game was name dropping too much. his album was called the documentary(or the documentary to hip hop) the whole album was like a concept album, and you never see that in rap music period

whats so stupid about it? they are both rappers arent they? people compare biggie and tupac dont they? common is not a lyrical god or anything, i mean hes made a few nice songs but hes never made a concept album like game just did. Games album takes shits all over Common's new album
take your hip hop wizard hat somewhere else

Common is a consious rapper, The game is a pseudo-gangsta rapper where are the similarities becos they both rap? man you stupid for that. what do you think common is rapping about? did you listen to The Corners or The Food or even Go which is a dope track. theres no comparing the two and anyway Common is still a much better rapper than The Game

On the song Corners common rapped "talkin straightforward to ho's"
c'mon man Chi-city is concious. please man, common is just as concious as game is

i never heard any rapper talk about the ongoing crisis in afrika, now if one did, that would make him a concious rapper. dead prez are concious rappers. now common isnt.
he talks about the bad state of hip hop and white kids just eat it up. at least game doesnt bullshit you

Yall clowning homeboi for having an opinion. Tell me this how many of yall would have been on common's dick if Kanye hadn't produced the album and it would have been just like Electric Circus.

This cat is SLOW.

First off the song is called "CONERS". Get it, CORNERS. What the fuck pops into you mind with that title?

Secondly, Chicago is known for pimping. I know cause I'm from there. Ask Bishop Don Magic Won about Chicago.

Thirdly, you can't judge an song, let alone an album or especially and artist based on one of a song. Thats just stupid.

Oh, and you obviously haven't listened to Like Water for Chocalate have you? And you say Common isn't Conscience, get the hell outta here. But you praze Dead Prez, have you heard their lates music, or seen their latest videos. Not what you would call "conscience" is it.

Now if you just don't like Common or this album thats fine. You won't be the only nigga out there listening to crap like Game and shit. But don' lie about an artist, thats just bullshit.

Talking about some Game shit was a concept album and he rapped about a lot of subjects. What the fuck album were you listening to? All that man talked about was he got shot, was a gansta, and now he's ballin. Then you even try taking about some songs cause you know they were garbage. This is how we do, yeah, thats conscience and a new concept. You my friend are brainwashed. Wake the fuck up and drink some coffee kid. No wonder 50 goes platinum.

Common<Game
I purchased both, but people are beginning to get tried of Game. Common is going to be around regardless whether he sells or who the hell likes him, whereas Game will fade out the spotlight.

I agree with you. I'm not saying he has to like Common or BE at all. But the reasoning, arguments, and points he made were either heavily flawed, caused by lack of information/intelligence, or biased.

Tell me, what is one "concious" line in BE? He talked about george bush a little on the intro track. he talked about what happens on the corner without saying what should be done about it, on corners. he talks about a pretty girl on go and faithful. the best song on the whole album was testify, and that wasnt "concious". chi city asnt concious at all and that was people favorite song. this is a verse from "food"

"You love to hear the story, again and again
About these young brothers, from the City of Wind
Like juice and gin, in the city we blend
Amongst the hustle, titties and skin, fifties and rims
Y'all know the Sprewells and trucks that's detailed
Heartless females that wanna ride in em
Felt the southside venom in raw hides and denim"

yeah man, real concious, is it more concious then this game verse from hate it or love it:
"Thinkin how they spent 30 million dollars on airplanes
when there's kids starvin
'Pac is gone and Brenda still throwin babies in the garbage
I wanna know "What's Goin' On" like I hear Marvin
No schoolbooks, they used that wood to build coffins
Whenever I'm in the booth and I get exhausted
I think what if Marie Bank had got that abortion?
I love you ma"

hey its just me but that game verse seemed just as "concious" or even more than any verse on BE. So now you white kids gotta take off you hip hop wizard hats and shove em up your ass
