Drake Is Being Screwed Out Of Millions According To Lawsuit By Jas Prince [PDF File Attached]

Last week, news surfaced that Drake may be getting scammed out of millions of dollars. Today, a legal document reveals that Drake is in fact at the center of a serious legal battle. You can read the entire document outlining the case here.

The intro reads:

On or about 2007/2008, Plaintiffs discovered the rap artist professionally known as "Drake" and introduced him to Defendants to help further his entertainment career. Since Plaintiff's discovery of Drake, his career has been wildly successful. He has sold millions of records and received countless awards. Plaintiffs and Defendants had an agreement to split profits[..]ociated with Drake's success. Despite their agreement, Defendants have failed to pay or account to Plaintiffs in accordance to the agreement. In fact, Defendants actions suggest that they are attempting to oust Plaintiffs from the Drake business altogether. Defendants have also failed to pay or account to Drake. By not paying Plaintiffs or Drake, Defendants have put the entire Drake business in jeopardy. As such, Defendants are causing great injury to Plaintiffs.

From this point on, things get complicated, and Drake isn't actually named as a plaintiff, but the money he's generated during his career is causing some issues for the man who discovered him and the teams who are managing him. Here are the basics of the case:

The man filing the suit is James "Jas" Prince.

The defendants are Aspire Music Group, Cortez Bryant, Laurant Management, Three Kings, Gerald Roberson, and Derrick Lawrence.

James Prince claims that after discovering Drake, he entered into an oral agreement with the defendants in which they said they would use their connections and influence to get Drake signed by Lil Wayne and to promote Drake once he was signed. In exchange, Prince would take the lead in managing Drake and profits would be split accordingly.

After the oral agreement was made, Cortez Bryant went and signed Drake to an exclusive management deal without telling Prince.

Prince claims that he never received his cut of the money and that the original agreement with Bryant was not honored. He believes that Bryant is trying to cut him out of the business completely.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, both parties entered a settlement agreement, but Prince claims he was never paid, and the reason he was given was that Drake hasn't been paid either.

James is seeking accounting information and monetary relief for all breaches of contract.

Basically Drake was discover by Jas Prince(J Prince of Rapalot Records son) who in turn showcased him to Lil Wayne, Birdman, Cortez Bryant(Lil Wayne's manager and best friend) who agreed to split profits from Drake but when Drake was sellling millions of records, YMCMB didn't pay him a dime when he threaten to sue, he got a settlement but was never paid and YMCMB reasoning was that Drake hasn't even been paid yet for his record sells. So as an result Jas Prince is basically saying !! this !!, I'm suing yall in open court and letting all this be of public record and knowledge which he can use to swing judges, albitors and if this goes to jury, it can help swing their public opinion in his favor

Also I'm not saying Drake is broke, poor or bummish because he has touring money but what I understand that they get a chunk of everything Drake unless he does things on his own so his tour was his own tour not used by YMCMB or their promoters...kinda !! up and you wonder what Nicki, Tyga, Busta, Bow Wow, Limp Bizit, and Christina Millian have in store if they sell records....should have asked Juvenile how Birdman does niccas

The New York Daily News reported last week that Jas Prince, son of Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince and the man who discovered Drake and kicked the proverbial ball that launched a superstar was suing Drake’s management of Cortez Bryant, Gerald “Gee” Roberson, Derrick Lawrence and the Aspire Music Group over breach of contract & breach of fiduciary duty. Prince alleges that he hasn’t been paid in well over a year and in court documents seen here shows that Drake himself has not been paid any royalties for his work since signing with the management firm in 2009.

Prince also alleges that Bryant verbally agreed to paying a portion of the profits earned from Drake’s deal with Young Money, a deal that Bryant presided over.

why would anybody go to cash money or YMCMB?

Baby let get the keys to the Rover truck....

At the end of the day Birdman did guide these dudes on the right path in life and he showed them what's up. He built the empire and had the vision. He told Weezy what's up, if he leave Cash Money it's over. You might as well stay playboi and not be as broke as these niccas in the hood playboi.

verbal agreements do hold weight in court... sometimes they are legally binding as written contracts, it depends on the terms

U know what they say though once a rapper leaves a label he falls off though! Drake deserves to get paid but u live in 10 million dollar in LA, u got 3 million dollar condo in Toronto and im sure he owns several properties worldwide not to mention a fleet of luxury cars and money. !! record sales and profits. Continue making music and enjoy the freedom young money gives you. You think for one second Kanye, Hov and all these other Rapper CEO's paying artist hell no

Drake would be in the same spot he's at now not getting paid...didn't Beanie Sigel say that the only people getting paid on ROC was Jay and Dame, Jay put omillio sparks on a hook of one of he's biggest songs and omillio sparks didn't get paid anything for that.[pic]

omillio said he didnt have his publishing game right which is why he didn't get paid it's nobody fault but his own. beans made 1.5 mill from 2002 to 2004 and im sure he made more 2000-2001 cause that's when his first two albums dropped. and he never went platinum. he was makin money he just didn't know how to handle it.
