Complex Asks: Did Lil Wayne Fall Off?

Everything he released from Carter 2 up until Carter 3 is his best work in my opinion...especially all the "leaked" material...

Carter 3 could of easily been a cla#sic double album...

He's fallen off in the sense that he's not flooding the market anymore...and doesn't have to...but if he is going to make music it damn sure needs to be better than that hot garbage he's been putting out when he actually does.

good points in the thread got me thinking...i did kinda shy away from wayne because of him flooding the market... wayne was the most bumped for me from like 02 to 08. i kind of just got tired of em.

carter 4 was trash, but he was still k#llin features and some mixtapes[pic]

Wayne fell off when he went pop in 07/08. You can't tell me that from the stretch of 96-2007(minus 500 Degreez), Wayne didn't drop heat and grow as a street rapper. As soon as he went to the top, his intent changed for the worst. Everything was a !!ty metaphor and lackluster, redundant beat or - even worse, a rip-off. At least when you were k#lling mixtapes you were redefining those songs and making them your own.

I think Wayne's problem is that he doesn't know where to go from here. He can ghost-write but that probably remains a Birdman exclusive job. I think he's reached his peak and is struggling to break into that next level. He seems uninspired. He's already a succesful business-owner with Young Money. He can get endorsements out the[..] and he's gotten props from ppl you'd never expect(Bill Clinton, Peyton Manning, Barack Obama, etc.) He ate the ocean and now he's too fat to hold an appetite.

I think he just got complacent. He's gonna sell no matter what he drops or where he goes to tour. What in the world is there to motivate him to step his game up if people are gonna support it anyway? I don't blame him.

Carter 2 was the beginning of the end for dude. He was never extraordinarily nice to begin with (Nas, Jay, Big, Eminem level) so his highlights are not that high anyway.

Natural cycle of music, you get hot fall off

I agree he has put out beaucoup listless records/features lately but I suggest u go listen 2 dat verse again. It's 1 of his few latest verses where he's actually on par wit da song topic. He covered be'n nagged by a insecure female from a males pov precisely 2 me.[pic]

to tell you the truth wayne was good til about 07-08 then he fell off. Dude kept sippin that lean. that !! fried his brain. But on the other hand, iu think wayne still got it. He can rap when he wants to. I just think hes set now.he dont gotta rap anymore cause hes accomplish alot. Wayne has that "!! it" attitude now. He just raps for fun now cause he wanna live a regular life. thats just my opinion. Only thing i dont like about wayne is that hes a !!in bitter just like jay. He's stolen too many verses. Dude took a whole verse from Aaliyah.

look at this video

After Wayne caught charges he lost it. Like a reverse Tupac.

Plus he'll violate his probation if he fails a drug test. I think the kush and the purp fueled his creativity. I think he has it in him to come back.
