Yea, Soulja got his money from Youtube. It wasn't Crank That going 3x Platinum, being atop the US Billboard charts for weeks, and numerous ringtone downloads. It was just Youtube.

Soulja Boy got rich from selling singles and more specifically ringtones.

"Crank That" went 3x Platinum

It also sold 5 MILLION ringtones

It was also a Number 1 billboard single

And his debut album went Platinum

That's how Soulja Boy got rich... Not off adsense on Youtube [pic]

Im sure he saw some bread off youtube views, but nowhere in the ballpark of what you're probably thinking.

The only thing that Keef and Soulja Boy have in common are that both of their first singles had viral music videos on youtube.

The difference is that Soulja Boy was able to parlay that into people actually going out and buying his music. Keef is not.

Thats why Soulja Boy made way more money off "Crank That" alone, than Keef will see in his lifetime.

And why yall trying to compare Keef's record sales to Waka's as if Asylum Records invested as much money into Waka as Interscope did Keef. You think Interscope gonna look at the numbers and say, well at least he sold more than Waka? Hell no. It's about the return on the investment. I don't have the official numbers but Waka probably gave the greater return on investment than Keef even though Keef sold more.

You don't need official numbers to know Interscope invested a whole lot more. First, there was no bidding war for Waka. That alone means Interscope had to put up more money to keep other people from signing him. You don't see Waka walking around with his own line of Beats do you? niccas in here really acting like Waka's label invested as much in him as Keef's. Get real. Waka's was on his own label with conjunction with Asylum. Him and his mom were the executive producer. Look at the features on Flockavelli. All BSM member except for Roscoe and Wale. A verse from Wiz probably cost more than all the features on Waka's album.

I bet you he does. Time for him to be banished to the land of trash gimmick rappers.

He's in the same boat as Kreayshawn and Lil B.

I really don't know why he keeps being mentioned with artist who actually have accomplished things (like Waka, Jeezy, and Gucci)

He not even in their league. He's gimmick rap, like Lil B.

Remember how big his "Viral" following was? Now nobody cares about that nicca no more.

Kreayshawn had 40 million youtube views on Gucci Gucci (2x as many as "I Don't Like"). She flopped and now she's gone too.

I remember there was a time where you couldn't come on here without seeing 10 Lil B and Kreayshawn threads on here.

Now they all just fall to the bottom and fade away

Anyone from the industry know how record deals with minors work? If he flops could he owe Interscope or is he protected by his age?
