the synthesis
All Eyes On Me and Life After [rip] are sonically two of the greatest MIXED albums. They were mixed on pure analogue with the help of leading Rock engineers who mixed grammy award winning albums. At the time rappers mixes sounded very cheep, but All Eyes On Me pushed the boundaries as far as mixing, then came LAD...the only other album that came close is 2001

You can crank up these albums to the max without distorting everything sounds in place, i cant say the same about other albums in the digital era where once turned up the vocals drown out and all you hear is 808;s

The mix is far more important than the beat itself, thats why Pac and BIG still gettin play like it;s 96/97 and other artists from that era get no play.

All this thread taught me was rap fans are still simple as !! and think production = beats.

Anyways, only like 2 people mentioned DJ Quik which means the rest of yall are trippin. He had his hand in some of the best [rip]row productions, the aforementioned Street Gospel by Suga Free, as well as making brilliant ALBUMS like Safe + Sound, Rhythm-A-Lism and Balance & Options where every track just fits perfectly together and the mix is just butter.

And just to mention some albums not brought up yet or that most people in here probably aint even familiar with but should be:

Messy Marv - Disobayish
Yukmouth - Thug Lord
Sticky Fingaz - Black Trash: The Autobiography Of Kirk Jones
Warren G - Regulate...G-Funk Era
The Team - World Premiere
E-40 - In A Major Way
E-40 - The Hall Of Game
8Ball & MJG - Living Legends
Tha Dogg Pound - Dogg Food
UGK - Underground Kingz
