As it was, it brought The Source to its knees and - along with his rap beef with Eminem - it ripped Benzino's career to shreds.
That´s journalism ! u find a story ,u do your research and print it . That´s the job! The problem was that benzino´s !![..] was trying to be a star and ether people ,using his power .He was trying to be a dictator "back down, bow down" and it backfired !Cant mix journalism and politics
Again if u had those tapes and u sit on it, go find another job ...

The Source Magazine's integrity as a news publication was already fractured well before the tapes came out; with conflicts of interest everywhere you turned. When Benzino and the owner of the magazine had both decided to make it their mission to destroy Eminem's credibility as a member of the Hip Hop culture - based squarely on his skin colour - journalistic ethos no longer had any place at the magazine. By the time the tapes were released, the reputation of the magazine as a journalistic publication had already shattered into pieces.

Releasing the tapes in that kind of context is like a politician getting caught cheating on his wife and then running for office on family values. Most newspapers and magazines could not have been faulted for releasing those tapes. For The Source, it was a dumb move.

Benzino exposed eminem but instead of hip hop fans and Other MC's riding with him they took eminem's side and said nothing[pic]

I used to subscribe for like a few years during the heat of all the beef with Ja/murk Inc/Benzino vs. Shady/Aftermath. I remember one issue, the Hip Hop Quotable was him dissing Em on Die Another Day. [pic]

Then there was the review of Made Men's album that Benzino wrote himself and used an alias, and then everyone found out that the writer didnt' exist. He gave the Made Men album 4.5 mics [pic] I think he gave Obie Trice's first album like 3 mics [pic]

Zino had a point during the feud though. He was just didn't express it the right way. Of course he's trying to remold his image now so not shocked he regrets it all. Dude lost his magazine and whatever fame he had left as a solo artist over some dumba#s hip hop beef.

And these are by far the hardest joints Zino has ever been on:

I can't believe nobody posted that mademen Lox Joint off the belly soundtrack. The joint was bananas

Anyway Benzino had a valid message/point but his approach was all kinds of !!ed up

I remember his interview with Angie Martinez he was just basicly saying the machine of the industy is tying to boost eminem as the best rapper alive while promoting black acts such as ying yang twins and whatever crunk ignorant black acts along with eminem while not pushing the likes of artist like kweli or whatever

He had a valid point but Angie was like eminem is popular cuz he touches alot of demographics which is true and be just Happened to be one of the best emcees in the game at the moment too. Em was in his prime at that point.

Anyway he just came off as a bitter chick and doesn't help that his magazine was extremely biased and had an agenda what wasn't even hidden that shot was obvious as hell

I never understood that.

Somebody is using Black music to make racist songs while telling the world his best friend growing up was a Black man?

Interscope did a great job through the media to cover up and sugar-coat that scandal.

I wonder why people say the beef with Emenim ended Benzinos rap-career, he was never a big star moving a bunch of records...

Benzino won that beef in the streets tho, word to Proof. Eminem was somewhere hiding and getting ex CIA agents to protect him cause he feared for his life.

As crappy[..] as benzino is, he's right, feminem aka eminem and interscope records have cause just as much damage to rap music as the rest of the crap out there.

look what they did to the late tupac shakur over the years with their legacies, think about that.
