50 Centís 44 Minute Interview With Wall Street Journal

50 Centís 44 Minute Interview With Wall Street Journal
23 topic by s7venwords - 02-23-2013, 01:18 PM - Boxden > The Hip-Hop Spot

Got 44 minutes on this lovely Saturday? Grab some popcorn and watch this insightful interview that 50 Cent recently did with Wall Street Journalís Lee Hawkins.

He speaks on everything connected with his life including SMS promotions and why he took on the job, Eminem not being active outside music, past beefs and fall outs, his secrets of marketing, partnering with World Food Program & Feeding America, not liking some of his uncles, falling out with Floyd Mayweather but still remaining friends with him, his time at Columbia Records & what he learned from it, marketing his mixtapes, Diddyís contribution to Hip-Hop, recording tons of songs for his new album Street King Immortal, different climates in Hip-Hop, missing Chris Lighty, his future projects & what he wants from his next chapter of life, interview with Oprah, Obamaís idea of taxing the wealthy, and much more.
A few gems:

At the 38 minute mark, 50 tells us why we see a woman and not a man modeling with a brand new car on a magazine cover.

At 40 minute mark, he reveals why he kept his G-Unit sneakers at a reasonable price and how Jay-Z owes him a favor.

50 should take that advice at 24:00. Instead of creating an "album", take those songs you recorded and put that #### together. that is your album

Too bad that "intelligence" doesn't parlay into music.

Hes making money ONLY because of his initial success. Hes not more intelligent than any other entertainer.

His insight doesn't mean anything if you're not someone who already has money OR if you're not an entertainer.

Listening to 50 Cent talk is basically mental masturbation of things that no one can functionally employ.

Not really, Jay-Z is more so articulate , he's somewhat intelligent too but IMO not more than 50. I've never really listened to a Jay-Z interview and go " Hmmm, He's right, I've never really looked at that way" He's just very well spoken. Dont mistake me for saying he's dumb, he's very smart but not on 50's level. Jay-Z accumulated his wealth doing a bunch of business partnerships and going in on investments that other people proposed to him. Alot of 50's business decisions were things that he spearheaded off his own observations. If you listen to them talk and explain their rationale then it's easy to recognize what I just said.

Creativity and Intelligence are two separate things, this should be common sense since you can see plenty of people in this world who have alot of one but not the other.

and if you actually recognize all of the business decisions 50 has made and the stuff he's done behind the scenes to get them off the ground then none of what your'e saying makes any sense.

50's intelligence is beneficial to those without money as well, you wont be able to flip as huge a profit because you probably wont have as large an initial investment but alot of shyt is practical shyt that if someone is willing to do the hard work required would benefit off of.

You dont accumulate the type of diversified business portfolio he has by being "lucky".

What are you talking about?

I didn't know this was a "lemme hear you holla if you looooove 50 cent!" thread.

Plus, 50 sometime has insights, but to say hes somewhat of a genius, is a major oversight.

If he wasn't "50 Cent" he wouldn't be much. Hes a personality. He, himself, doesn't create much value in the world. Hes merely a face and he never admits that.

You see dudes who know how to play the backstage role or who actually create things? THEY are irreplaceable.

50 Cent is replaceable. But since hes got money, people take what he says as complete fact.

50's interview formula is to basically TELL his audience how hes going to r### them out of their rent money and then baffle them with the bull#### of why they were susceptible to his image.

Its really funny to watch.

The same dudes saying how smart 50 is are lining up to buy his energy drinks, buy his clothes, and cop his electronics...stuff he didn't create. All he did was promote it.

Dude isn't a businessman himself. HE is the brand. Thats why I don't listen to people who are tastemakers. They don't DO anything but try to convince you that they're more than what they are.

Notice, the people who are worth more that are REALLY valuable can never tell you enough.

Dudes like 50 that are merely entertainers can tell you EVERYTHING and you'll think you've heard it all. Because you have.

50 comes just short of saying, if my name is on it, you'll get excited and throw your money at it.

Elon Musk will always hold his real edge back and give you just enough to let you know how to do it yourself.

Theres a difference.

If you want to be like 50...go ahead...but don't think dude is "intelligent" above and beyond someone who creates things of tangible value.
