Ukraine hot water pipe burst, turning the street into a sauna!!

A recently repaired road near the Olimpiysky Stadium in Kyiv, Ukraine became a mangled mess when a hot water pipe burst, turning the street into a sauna.

Thats !!ed up i didn't even know......but im not surprised seeing as that the last time they've checked the pipes was during WWII [pic]

Im curious what / where the pipe was run to... I've never heard of this, Usually it goes tap the main to run into a house/business/anthing that needs water, the main is cold hard water - which means you need a water heater in the place to make hot water. Also this !! had to be dug deep below the frost level, as im sure you all know hot water freezes a lot faster than cold.
