Stereotypes 101: Black Folk Don't Tip (video)

My friends have told me they never tip unless they're with me because I always do and they don't wanna look like cheap[..]es [pic] Having worked in the service industry I know how important those tips are.

One thing I do hate is when you can obviously tell a waiter or waitress doesn't want to give you service most likely because they think you won't tip them based off your skin color or some dumb[..] stereotype. Treat every customer as an individual and you might see your tips go up.

I did service for a bit too, delivery, and the black dudes would never tip. There were some whites that didn't tip too, or gave me pennies and nickels and !! on some disrespectful !!, but not one black dude ever tipped me. Although I did have way more white and hispanic customers than black customers.

But I'm white, so you guys are saying black folks don't even tip other black folks? That's cold [pic] I could see if I'm white, and there was a racial element to it on some, "White people had black slaves, so !! you" type !!. But not even tipping other black people is pretty wack.

I never got the people who don't tip. Do they not realize the person working and serving them is making WAY below minimum wage hourly? Real !!, their usually making like $4.00 an hour. Tips are the only way they can make any money. The whole system is set up to make servers nice to customers so they can get tipped and make money, otherwise is servers got paid 9 an hour and !! like regular jobs they would care less about customers and just act however they wanted.

Im black and am notorious for overtipping no matter the quality of the service. But i did wait tables some in high school. I see it this way. I get paid no matter how bad of a day I have at work. So why not the same for service jobs that involve tips? You have those days waiting tables where nothing goes right. For those that dont tip at all, i highly suggest not eating at the same place twice.

I bought a drink at the club and the bartender !! took my change and slam !!ing dunked it into the tip jar. I wanted to punch her in her damn throat. Let me decide if your !! service deserves a tip.

Ha, this is a classic example of how when Black people do anything, it gets amplified while other groups do the same !! and it's never an issue with them.

Chinese people are notorious for being horrible tippers, along with Jews, Europeans, and most White women. For some reason the stigma gets stuck on Black people because it's easier to talk !! against us.

I consider myself a great tipper. However, how much is relative to the service, always. Also, you can't be expected to tip based on taxed totals, it should be 18% on top of the untaxed total etc. it's a gesture of appreciation for great service not a formality.

Servers k!ll me sometimes with the !!ty service. then hit you with a bill that has has a "tip included line" and expect you to add tip on top of that. FOH

When i was in Mexico a few weeks ago,
i tipped the !! outta them Mexican natives...but they where BUSTING their[..] to accommodate me. so i felt no type of way giving my hard earned money to them.

BTW i tip accordingly

I usually over tip but this one time at a club I opened up a tab and the service was so bad, and I mean 30 minutes to get a drink bad, the bartender was totally ignoring like the whole side of the bar where I was waiting at. So when I closed it my tab, I tipped him 5 cents, 1 penny for every beer I bought. When I went to leave, he called me back and asked if the tip was right, the check was like 18.75 and I exactly wrote down like 18.80., I told him yeah and said his service was !!tie and everyone around that area agreed with me and told me to say eff him. I think that was the worst tip I had given anyone. Bartender got all sad and told me to never go to him for drinks again, like he's the only muthphuckin bartender there.

What type of servicing jobs b/c when I go to the airport, I don't really require[..]istance from no one except for somebody to wave me down with the wand before I go through the metal detector.

I never tip a delivery driver though. They already hit you over the head with the delivery fee. Pay em' with that. I'm suppose to pay 15 or 16 for my food then another 2-4 for delivery charge then tip on top of that? I just don't feel comfortable doing that. If delivery cost as much as eating in the actual place, I would probably be more inclined to leave a tip that would probably be more than a delivery charge.

The delivery charge is barely anything, it's like $1-$1.50, IF that sometimes (2 to 4? !! out of here, you're exaggerating hard to fit your agenda of "tipping don't make sense." You really think a business can get by, by constantly tacking on 4 dollars to something just for delivery? You're wrong, that figure is totally wrong.) At least the one job I worked delivery, I used to get paid like 4.50 an hour, I think it jumped up to 5.20 in the summer when less people were ordering out because the snowbirds went back up north. But delivery charges were nothing, I didn't even think of delivery charges, that's how miniscule it is.

Do you not understand how expensive gas is? The only way you can make a case to not tip well, is if some !! took forever to deliver your food. I understand bad service, bad tip, and if it was really really bad service, than I can understand not tipping. But that !! would k!ll me, some dude would buy one sandwich, I'd drive out and hurry my[..] up to his place, getting there in 8 minutes when it's a 20 minute drive. And he'd give no tip... Why not just come to the !!ing store. I busted my[..] to get you your stupid sandwich in record time, and I get nothing. !! that, that's why I quit that job. Because of !!s like you. In that video, the explained that cycle that some of y'all point out in here though. How servers stereotype blacks not tipping so they give !!ty service, so nobody wins. That !!'s !!ed up [pic]
