Prize-winning giant vegetables Harrogate Autumn Flower Show

1. Weightlifter Jonathan Walker prepares to lift a marrow weighing 119lbs 12oz (54.3kg) above his head after it won the Giant Marrow Class in the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show.



Peter, from Newark, collected the prize for the heaviest onion and a new world record with a super specimen weighing in at 18lb 1oz (8.195kg). The previous record of 17lbs 15.5oz was set by Peter at the 2011 Autumn Show.

His winning ways also continued in the giant vegetable competition with a clean sweep of every class. Peter took first place with a massive marrow weighing in at 119lbs 12 oz (54.318kg), a colossal cabbage at 81lbs 6oz(36.912kg), a prodigious potato at 3lb 31/8 oz (1.446kg) and a tremendous tomato weighing 3lb 11/4 oz (1.390kg). In the class for the longest runner bean he won with a specimen measuring 31 3/4" (80.645cms) and also produced the longest cucumber at 32 1/4" (81.915cms).



2. Giant vegetable grower Peter Glazebrook kisses his world record onion. It weighed in at 18lbs 1oz (8.16kg), beating his previous world record by almost two ounces.
