Color Perception |

| I've pondered this for a while and I remember posting this a while back but cant find it ![]() So what if how we see colors is different from one person to another for example - we're both looking at color X. we've both been brought up since childhood to call this color BLUE but what if it looks different to me than it does for you. what if that color that you really see is something i would consider green

| Interesting, but would you eventually learn the "approved" name for each "proper" color? | |

| I always think about this.. Ahat if everyone and everything looks different to each individual... What you see in the mirror isn't what the next person sees.... Deep !!...[pic] | |

| Everyone has same the same photoreceptors for color ('cones'). People who are color blind are lacking a particular receptor. Everyone sees red as red. | |

| No, it's psuedo-intellectual because there is no logic behind it, and well... it's wrong. | |

I don't need logic to form my hypothesis or beliefs....

| This is a pretty common topic in philosophy, particularly in the fields of epistemology and metaphysics (I studied this ish in college). The problems arises when we try to ascribe a trait of universality to color. There are two main families with subgroups within them: realism and subjectivism. The former states that colors are mind-independent objects, or that an object has a true color that exists regardless of how an individual perceives it. Subjectivism is the basically the opposite: the colors of an object are dependent on the individual, so it can be viewed in different ways by different people. I won't get into it so just go here if you're interested: It's a legitimate source that's regularly edited, so you can actually learn something and not worry about being led on by some internet trolls | |

Am I wrong to have faith in God? Is there any logic proving God even exists? Faith defies logic, yet it's what religion is solely based on. Logic only defines certain truths, yet man will never know everything.

| So what you see is based on memories in the brain [pic] | |

Although most of us wouldn't argue about the PHYSICAL qualities of a stop sign (it's an octagon), the color can be disputed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's possible for someone to go their entire life thinking blue is red, for example. How you be able to prove it wrong? [pic] All of us see the sky and know it's blue, but what if one's perception of the actual color blue is actually red? So the names of the colors are all the same and agreed on, but what we see in our head can be different. I might be reaching, but food for thought.

| Didn't watch the video, but the perception of color has been discussed for centuries - often in this very same context, i.e. qualia - which in itself is a bit broader but equally as entertaining. | |
