The dilemma is politics! The left keeps the entitlements, the right cuts taxes and keeps defense. So we keep spending but reducing govt revenue. That's the simple way of explaining how the debt has went unchecked.

The hard part is getting the left and right to agree on what needs to be cut...short answer ALL of govt spending needs to be reduced.
