how to jailbreak at&t iphone 3gs to work on tmobile?

I am buying a brand new iphone 3gs from a friend who is at&t's network. I am on tmobile.

I have looked at a thousand videos on how to do it, but none seem the same.

Can someone who has done it or knows how please, easily explain to me how to do it?

why dont u just get the 4? i did this last year and then just switched to at &t cause my phone messed up beyond repair
