Sep 5 - Paul Ryan requested Obamacare funding

Though he promises that the Affordable Health Care act will be completely repealed if he and Mitt Romney are elected, in 2010 Paul Ryan requested a grant for his state that was fully funded by Obamacare.

According to a letter obtained by Lee Fang of The Nation, in December of that year, Ryan wrote to the Department of Health and Human Services in support of a grant request by the Kenosha Community Health Center to build a new facility in Racine, Wisconsin. The particular grant, called New Access Points, is fully funded by the Affordable Care Act to create and improve health care facilities.

“The proposed new facility, the Belle City Neighborhood Health Center, will serve both the preventative and comprehensive primary health care needs of thousands of new patients of all ages who are currently without health care,” Ryan wrote. “Please note that target area includes census tracks ranking amongst the poorest and most-medically underserved in the State of Wisconsin.”

Ryan has previously been caught also requesting stimulus funds for his district, despite publicly decrying the package and saying, “This is not going to work.”
