Sep 24 - NJ man charged with using 2 Social Security numbers in $163K unemployment scheme

TRENTON — An Essecks County man was charged today for allegedly stealing more than $163,300 by falsely claiming to be unemployed and fraudulently using two Social Security numbers, authorities said.

From 2008 to this year, Milo Carl Dorsainvil, 46, of Orange, allegedly obtained $116,219 in Medicaid benefits by failing to notify the government that he was employed and by making false claims that he was entitled to Medicaid benefits, the state Attorney General's Office said in a news release.

Dorsainvil also allegedly received $47,562 in supplemental security income by giving the false impression he was unemployed, the office said. He was charged with theft by deception, Medicaid fraud and tampering with public records or information.

An investigation by the state Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor determined Dorsainvil was actually employed during the time in question as a bus driver for International Bus Services of Manhattan, the office said.

He allegedly used one Social Security number for his job and another to apply for supplemental government[..]istance. An attorney for Dorsainvil could not immediately be reached for comment.

Deputy Attorney General Peter Sepulveda and detectives Matt Michalik and Laura Catizone were[..]igned to the case.

they are going to get caught eventually though...there's always a paperwork trail. gotta get in and have discipline to get out but when the money's coming, often times, people ride it till the wheels fall off. it's the american way.

because people see one story like this and get riled up and let people people pass dumb[..] laws..we dont need reform they are going to send his[..] to jail sell all his !! to recoup the money he owes the government and he will be ineligible for future benefits...he only stole 4yrs of services u know damn well hes gonna live longer than 4yrs so in short he cheated himself out of benefits he worked his whole life for just to get a few yrs of money. sounds too me like the current system won

Straw Man Argument, thats why. If people are seriously worried about welfare, lets start with corporate welfare.

According to analyzed numbers from the year 2006, the government spends $59 billion (3% of its total budget) on social welfare and $92 billion (5% of total budget) on corporate welfare. Perhaps more interesting is that in 1996, when new welfare reforms were signed into law by President Bill Clinton, both caseloads AND child poverty significantly dropped, saving the government gobs of money:

i know some ppl that collect unemployement and yet work a job that pays under the table and they living better off than i am...its some bull....

and someone correct me if im wrong but cant you collect unemployement and still work as long as its under a certain amount?

Yup. My sis was doing that a few years ago cause she was working less than 40 hours
