Nov 7 - Korean woman passes driver's exam on 950th try

SEOUL, South Korea – A woman in South Korea who tried to pass the written exam for a driver's license with near-daily attempts since April 2005 has finally succeeded on her 950th time. The aspiring driver spent more than 5 million won ($4,200) in application fees, but until now had failed to score the minimum 60 out of a possible 100 points needed to get behind the wheel for a driving test.

Cha Sa-soon, 68, finally passed the written exam with a score of 60 on Wednesday, said Choi Young-chul, a police official at the drivers' license agency in Jeonju, 130 miles (210 kilometers) south of Seoul.

Police said Cha took the test hundreds of times, but had no specific total. Local media said she took the test 950 times.

Now she must pass a driving test before getting her license, Choi said.

Repeated calls to Cha seeking comment went unanswered. She told the Korea Times newspaper she needed the license for her vegetable-selling business.

guess thats perseverance but damn, how the f**k u gonna fail something that many times ?? can u imagine how many of those questions were repeated on each test, she must be dumb as a stump .. another crazy asian going to be on the road

Nah, f**k that s**t! If she failed that many damn times and she only got a 60 after all that bulls**t, she shouldn't be allowed to have a license period. Her forgetful ass is gonna get someone killed...

Damn... At least it wasn't the driving test. Then we woulda known for sure she put in some serious work.

If you can't pass it the first 3 times...you shouldn't be able to get your license. I got my joint the first try.

lol...all the stereotypes come into play here. Its a woman, she's asian...AND shes old. I'd be afraid to be the person that has to be with her on the driving test.

I only failed mine once, and that's cause I was concentrating on the broad sitting next to me.

After the third try i would retire

thats a lil to steep, majority of people lack common sense and thats what majority of questions are. i could see like 5-7 times.


atleast she actually passed and didn't leave an envelope of money on the passenger seat like the ch!nks do here in Richmond, and i aint talkin no California or Virginia. that place is hands down scariest place 2 drive in all of North America
