Nov 3 - Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

A little articel by Bill Maher.

Yeah, I'm disappointed, too. I thought we were sweeping into power; I thought change meant Change. I believed all that talk about another First 100 Days, a la Roosevelt. Well, that didn't happen. The question is, is this as good as it gets from Obama, or is he pacing himself? He may have a four and eight-year plan and they included a first year of just gettin' to know you and not gonna rock the boat too much. Well, Mission Accomplished on that.

It's still too early to lose hope in a guy as smart and talented as Barack Obama. But I would counsel him to remember: If you're going undercover to infiltrate how Washington works, so you become one of them for a while, to gain their confidence, well, it can be just like all those movies where a cop goes deep, deep, DEEP undercover with drug people and -- f**k, he's a drug addict, too!

Logic tells me that really smart guys like Obama and Rahm Emanuel know better what they're doing than I do. They certainly know things I don't know. I think we have the same general goals and beliefs. And this is what they do for a living -- I wouldn't even try it. But I will never stop having this doubt: that maybe if they had really charged in there riding the forceful energy of the historic election, and acted like it was an emergency moment -- which it was -- they could have gotten some big victories right up front, and there really could have been an historic "first hundred days" for this administration and the country. Instead of what happened, which is the Obamas got a dog. It could have worked -- the country had given its endorsement to "...and now for something completely different." There might have been a way to knock the Republicans back on their heels right away, with the argument that "The American people demanded we make these changes, and you are unpatriotic to stand in their way."

We'll never know. Because that moment passed, and now it could follow the pattern of World War I and devolve into boring, static trench warfare where nothing really gamechanging happens while both sides slowly bleed to death.

That said, I do not forget that if the election had gone the other way, we'd right now have a barter economy and be at war with Honduras.

he really did have the momentum to do great things when he first entered..I hope the analogy is right about the undercover cop but I highly doubt it..if this doesn't bring light that presidents are actually just puppeteers then I don't know what does. What happen to a transparent government? that was actually the one thing I was looking foward to seeing because the last president that made that promise and actually followed through with it was assassinated (JFK) ..so I knew it was too good to be true when he said it in his campaign.

I am not surprised that people feel cheated. When people were talking like Obama is going to bring about the messianic age, I was the black guy in the back that was saying that his presidency would probably be like the presidency of most head executives. But who am I to say this?, he does after all have 3 more years to woo the people that were expecting to be wooed.

I on the other hand was expecting exactly what we are getting right now

So, editorials from Bill Maher can be posted here, but thorough pieces about the economy from Peter Schiff aren't allowed?

Nothing hypocritical about that.

^^ that rebuttal is also childish......fair is fair imo

regardless the OP needs to learn the difference in a news article and a opinion piece

now that thats out the way,

Ive always stood by Bill Maher. hes one of the few people who arent disturbed by democrat nor republican partisan games. he's 100% accurate in his assessment. there has been little, if any, change from washington...I agree that it woulda been 10 times worse if the election woulda went the other way, but we cant think "what if" ....we have to realistically take inventory of the "changes" that were promised and the same old bulls**t we've been getting...

things are slowly falling apart in our society... obama isnt doing anything to fix it, he's just trying to provide some cushion so that the impact is less intense when felt. he probably had every intention to bring change but things are just out of his control. he cant control the economy, he cant control the swine flu and he cant create jobs..its just impossible for him to do alone. the only thing he can do is manipulate the stock markets so that businesses will "think" everything is ok...but he cant force the businesses to hire more ppl

what can he do besides help the government officials???? nothing...he cant even control the banks

man.. it just nearly made 1 year since obama been president.. and EVERYONE thinks he could fix s**t just by clapping his hands and rubbing them together like MR miyagi..
truth to it all.. yall must wait and let time take its path.. u cannot demand something from someone.. and expect it to get done right away... people thats paying attention.. knows that things are being fixed but they are being displayed in a negative light.. give the nigga till the end of his 4th year to make judgement.. cuz everyone crackin on obama.. but when bush was in office.. it was ok.. and people even voted him for a 2nd term.. please save me the bulls**t..

What did Obama promise that he didn't keep?

He stated he wouldn't pull the troops immediately, but set a deadline so its gradual.

Health care? Economy? Did you assume this recession was short term? What is it?

Even Bill Clinton says Obama is doing an excellent job.

the sh*t u talkin' about is communism, and socialism, and i agree completely on that. untill we scratch this capitolism sh*t as our economic system, then money will continue to be the deciding factor in our governments leadership selections, and how they chose to run the country as a whole. its f*cked up when ppl look at this country as a big money corporation that is only on top (when we were) due to gernerated revenue. if its like that, then the u.s. is k-mart, and china is walmart. and we all know what happened 2 k-mart because of walmarts come up. untill we start looking at ourselves as a nation of ppl, and not a market, we can't escape this bullsh*t we get ourselves in. been sayin' WAY b4 "milks favorite cookie" obama was elected, that the nygga was only a marionette, just one who listens to rap, and watches sportscenter this time. and since white ppl haven't been the majority in this country for a while now, it only made since for them to put a nygga up front, but one who knows his place. mr. president is just like the rest, a face for a entity that we'll NEVER see.

you have no idea what Obama said. it's blatantly obvious that you have never heard him speak on the matter of the war, health care, or the economy.

and what the f**k else would Bill Clinton say?

I'm not following your train of thought, IIRC, Obama has stated that he wouldn't pull the troops out immediately and that he'd take a proactive stance in Pakistan. And what did Sallstar say that implies that he's never heard Obama speak on the issues(healthcare, the economy) he(Sallstar) stated?
