Shouldnt matter what color you are, you should be able to attend college for free but i dont think !!s wrong with having a white scholarship fund.. there is over 1000 for blacks.

Exactly. These huge corporations that are run by white people run everything. No one would have the nerve to name something WET, because no one would care, everything is already WET. We all watch WET, we just don't know it because it is not blatantly out there.

let them have their scholarship. if they don't feel guilty about slavery, !! it.

i dont think anyone feels guilty about slavery, atleast i dont, cuz I didnt never own any slaves, approved of any slavery, or know anybody who ever owned any slaves.

This is stupid. We need those minority scholarships because white people !!ed us over so bad that we cant afford to go to college now. What an !!.

I could care less if they offered a white-only scholarship, but do it to help poor white people, not to make an ignorant point.

The purpose if scholarships is to help the underprivileged who are willing to work hard and earn the scholarships. Black or hispanic only scholarships are meant to help minorities because ordinarily these people would not be able to go to top universities. White people have all the privileges in the world and dont even realize it.

^ i do. i think the !! was pitiful & d|sgusting & i wish people would !!ing realize how bad it really was. but honestly...have we learned from it? look at what goes on now...how we still treat minorites...how we treat anyone who looks muslim or arab...how we just waltz into their countries & act like we can run !! better when we have our own issues & whatever disagreement they have has been going on since long before our flag was even a thought in someone's mind.

what pisses me off is that these kids r already in college & their just !!ing bc they could'nt get a scholarship so they had less debt when they graduate. they're acting like these minority scholarships r giving someone else an edge over them when in reality they're just giving someone a chance who would've otherwise been overlooked.

it's just an example of how scared white people get when they feel like they r losing the upper hand. & yeah, i'm white...& this !! pisses me off about my race.

This thread is just showing what the article was talking about. It's not meant to be racist. It's not meant to draw attention to whites. It's trying to bring attention to the bull!! fact that we place so much emphasis on race. It's saying that there should be no race related scolarships. I agree that anyone who wanted to go to college, should go to college. Until we see eachother as men and women instead of black, white, asian, hispanic men and women, there will always be racism.

first of all student sdont get scholorships soley beacuse of thier race they actually have to do well acedemcly (sp)

second yea whites have more privilages then back but not all whites are middle classed surbabanites jus tliek nto all blacks/latinos/etc are all dirt poor living in the projects with a signel mother workign 2 jobs so fi there shoudl be other ethniciy based scholorships then the white should have ones too

third going along with my second point alot of black students that recieve scolorships are more privilaged then the black students that actually need the scholorships ie; they went to catholic/private school (the friends that i know that got scholorships to college went to a catholic/private schools)

fourth there are plenty of scolorships that doesn't discrimate race, gender, religion, etc so with that ebign said I dotn think there should be raced based scholorships but I still think an white scholorship is stupid
but if there are scholorhsips to peopel who are left handed then !! it let the whites have their !!

i would say that if it wasnt the republican club. This scholarship was started to bring an end to affirmative action. Affirmative action is cool wit me and black scholarships hispanic scholar ships white scholarships i dont care an education costs way to damn much anyway im payin for mine and any scholarship that helps someone else do it im all for.

Why is slavery even mentioned in this thread? Now that people want to have scholarships for white people when there are already scholarships for black people that means they dont feel guilty about slavery? Makes a lot of sense if you ask me.. :rolleyes:

Yea I feel you man. I had to pay for my !! too. I think that the fact that it's only $250 just furthers the point of them trying to make a statement rather than giving privledge.

Sucks that free education only works with communism.

The problem I have with this is that it completely ignores the history of why affirmative action was and is needed, and what it is and is not. To suggest people enter a school or job without merit is insulting to both the recipient and the benefactor. I think a protest against legacy points and and athletic scholarships is more important then attacking a program that attempts balance out years of favoritism by giving extra people a chance. At the end of the day, the white people who lose out are those who's merit is questionable in the first place. Nobody in the upper to middle range is losing out, it's only the students who would be borderline.

I also believe that there is a business reason to diversify your costumer base. Private schools may want to diversify to either expand their appeal to richer prospected students, or to enhance the education value of their product. Studies do show that intigrated colleges improve social skills which would translate into a better prepared entry into the corporate world. So even if a private school is accepting people who may not be academically elite, they are offering the rest of the student population something only they can provide.

I understand the basic thinking, people shouldn't be awarded for things other people can't be awarded for, but I think this protest is misguided.
