Jun 27 - Lobster dealer in Maine hits crustacean color trifecta: calico, blue and bright orange

A New England lobster dealer has hit the trifecta, so to speak.

Pete McAleney of Portland, Maine has three extremely rare crustaceans in his possession, according to The[..]ociated Press. McAleney has a calico-colored lobster, a blue lobster and a bright orange one.

In the past the Lobster Institute on the campus of the University of Maine has billed the calico lobster as a 1-in-30 million find and the blue lobster a 1-in-2 million discovery.

It's been a year of rare lobster discoveries. A calico lobster was found at Jasper White's Summer Shack restaurant in Cambridge, Mass., in May, and a blue crustacean was caught by Canadian lobster boat captain Bobby Stoddard in June.

McAleney's family owns New Meadows Lobster, one of the largest lobster distributors in Maine.
