Jun 25 - Drug Briton faces [rip] penalty

A British man is facing the [rip] penalty in the United Arab Emirates, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

A local news report claimed the unnamed Briton is a 21-year-old, who was sentenced in Abu Dhabi alongside a 19-year-old Syrian man for selling an undercover police officer 20g (0.7oz) of cannabis worth 1,500 UAE Dirhams (£262).

The Foreign Office was unable to confirm the details of the case, but a spokesman confirmed that it had been contacted.

He said: "I can confirm that a British national is facing [rip] penalty in the UAE.

"We remain in close contact with the British national and his legal team and continue to provide consular[..]istance."

UAE newspaper the National reported that the man's mother collapsed outside the court after the sentence was passed.

It said a Sudanese co-defendant was jailed for a year for taking cannabis, while a 17-year-old Emirati was ordered to undergo rehabilitation.

The UAE's ministry of justice was unavailable for comment.

Hey, when you take your[..] out of your country to do some !! you could have done at home, and you get caught doing some illegal !!........then hey..............its ain't right....but [pic] ........probably thought he was going to be on locked up abroad.....bet it shocked his[..] to [rip]......

[pic] at the last phrase. lol naw but seriously tho. I guess it's just cuz I'm in CO and my state realizes how non-harmful and non-issue weed is. But for someone to get a [rip] penalty for less than an oz of trees?

It ain't like he's smuggling in kilos of blow into the country.

Agreed he shouldn't break the law in another country though. I really hope he gets a lesser punishment.

The charge is wack........but they k!lling this man because he is a white westerner in their country disobeying their laws...........its nothing more then a message............

yea especially in the middle eastern countries. They're known for making examples out of foreigners. Journalists, tourists, etc.

What I find ignorant is this exact attitude, and I am a weed smoker. This retard took his[..] over to a muslim country and decided to sell drugs likely knowing full well that in Islam and Islamic countries, this is a big no no. Who the hell are we to say they're ignorant? Do I personally think this punishment is heavy handed? Yessir I do, but I'm smart enough to know that different places in the world have different customs. What's ignorant is telling ppl who have strong religious beliefs that they're beliefs are ignorant.

Shoulda kept his[..] in Britain and sold and smoked all the kush in the world, but no he decided to be a hero. Zero pity for this stupid !!.

Anyway, he likely won't be executed. The UAE is indeed just trying to send a message and will likely deport him back to England.
