Even though there are some similarities between the gays and black peoples struggles for civil rights, the gays struggles is/was not as oppressive as those faced by minorities.

Black people have faced discrimination in this country for generations. Im talking bout generations of family. My parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and even my children have/will face discrimination because of the visible color of their skin.

A white doctor delivers a black baby boy. He smacks the baby on the butt. It cries and the doctor thinks to himself "!!ing ****** baby."

The same doctor delivers Clay Aiken. He smacks him on the but and the baby giggles. Do you think the doctor is thinking "!![..] baby?"

To summarize, black people can be oppressed their whole life. Gay people become oppressed when people find out who they want to !!.

You're an idiot. So any pro-GLBT group must be anti-hetero by that logic [pic]

America these days [pic]

This is all pointless distraction from the real issues. It's like a sociological test to see if citizens s still care about the Constitution and it's freedoms. [pic]

!! no its not dumba#s. gays can still go eat at restaurants, and drive the same cars and work the same jobs other people can. btw, people STILL hate black people.

Not at all..

It's known that "Pro-Family" organizations are combatants of any family lifestyle that doesn't involve two parents of opposite se#es. In their opinion it is detrimental for kids to grow up in non traditional families.

All you have to do is watch Fox News for a week to gather that. They're extremely anti same se# parenting.

On the other hands GLBT groups come at it from the prospective of ANYBODY should be able to parent so long as the child is loved and taken care of. They not saying that gays are better or worse parents than anybody, but that they should have the same opportunity as any heterose#ual couple

There's a difference. Read an article or something buddy..

clearly BUT

In today's society you can not openly come out against someone for the fact that they are black. You can't openly say that you don't think they should have the same rights as everyone else or you're labeled a racist.

On the other end you can go all on the news and talk about how you don't think gay's should be able to be married or raise children. Call them an abomination and all that.

You can't even tell a black joke publicly in America anymore without the news showing up on your doorstep.

so saying.....

I think youre d|sgusting because your skin is a darker shade

is the same as...

I think youre d|sgusting because youre a man that likes to have se# with men.

Gays have had every right except for marriage, they could go back in history and blend in

with any time period by not admitting they like man on man butt secks.

Black people cant travel back to any time period and have a comfortable time

especially in caucasoid areas.

Even women have had a real struggle as compared to gays f!ght for marriage and what else

respect?

So you're saying that JUST because it's not the same exact struggle as what black people have gone through, that it doesn't count?

As for your stance about them having every right "except for marriage". Why shouldn't they be afforded that right.

I don't think you understand how complex the issue is. Without being able to be married gays lose out on A LOT

Here's just a couple of points of inequality that this creates

- A United States citizen who is married can sponsor his or her non-American opposite-se# spouse for immigration into this country. Those with Civil Unions have no such privilege.

(Even legally married gay and lesbian couples cannot sponsor their spouses for immigration because of the Defense of Marriage law)

- Civil Unions are not recognized by the federal government, so couples would not be able to file joint-tax returns or be eligible for tax breaks or protections the government affords to married couples.

- If a gay persons spouse is seriously injured in an accident, because of the fact that they're not "legally" married, the spouse is treated just like any other visitor as opposed to their husband or wife.

This includes not being able to make any decision in regard to quality of life or life support.

And that's just a few things. So does it sound like they've been given "every right" to you now buddy?

the biggest obstacle homos have ever faced is getting name called. let me know when their whole communities start getting b0mbed and the men of the house getting tortured or burned alive while the women get[..]d, and the cops support it as well as the majority of the population. wimps got nothing to cry about QUIT BYTCHING! wimps and blacks have NOTHING in common when it comes to civil rights. If you can't handle being talked down about then go hang yourself, blacks get stereotyped ALL DAY EVERY DAY.

Like wimps need protection and this and that, no wimps need to quit running up in everyones face and yelling " IM A wimp PLEASE ACCEPT ME OR YOUR AN EVIL PERSON".

How can you refute my point when every struggle you just name pertains to !!ing marriage

my man. Gays are not being oppressed or held down any any other facet of life besides

maybe taunting and bullying like every other 3rd grader or person that is different. They will

one day have some sort of marriage equality that's just how a democratic society works. I

don't personally believe they should get marriage, but they should have civil unions brung up

to par. And I still dont know why any homose#ual would want to be apart of religions that

hate them and what they believe in personally but whatever.

You're obviously a bigot, so there's probably no point, but homose#uals have had their civil rights denied, have been profiled and hara#sed by the police (Google Stonewall), have been murked for being homose#ual, and continue to be the targets of thousands of violent hate crimes every year.

It's been a little more than name-calling.

It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the black experience in this country to be unjust and worthy of action.

I'm not gay but the whole gays can't get married is retarded. If you're gay and happy then why can't you get married? If someone told you that you couldn't marry a person you love you would be pissed too. Guys marrying guys and girls marrying girls doesn't effect ANYONE.
