| By itzjustlogic - 07-22-2012, 09:45 PM - Boxden > BX Daily Bugle - news and headlines So are we going to act like the media isn't down playing this man's religion, because he's something other than Muslim. I mean I'm Catholic, but Jesus Christ every time a Muslim does something the first thing you read is his/her religion. SAN DIEGO -- A pastor for the family of Colorado shooting suspect James Holmes recalls him being a shy boy who was driven to succeed academically. Senior Pastor Jerald Borgie (BOR'-gee) of Penasquitos Lutheran Church in San Diego said Sunday he was always the one to start conversations with Holmes, who never approached Borgie and wasn't seen mingling at the church with other people his age. Borgie recalls a proud, intelligent boy who was determined to go to graduate school. He last spoke with the suspect about six years ago. The pastor says the family has belonged to the San Diego church for about 10 years. The suspect's mother attends services regularly and volunteers her time. Signs inside the church read, "Prayers for those affected by the Colorado tragedy" and "Prayers for the Holmes family." Churchgoers scrawled messages of support on the signs. http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...s2W_story.html |

| Because he didn't scream "Jesus is Great" before he started shooting!!!!! Plus his regilous beliefs was not the cause of his murkous rampage. Also his name was James Holmes and not Jesus bin St. Patrick Saint Martin. | |

| I haven't kept up with every detail, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any indication that his attack was motivated by his religious beliefs, so religion really wouldn't belong as a central point in the discussion. I do agree that IF there were indications of religious motives, they might be downplayed by some to fit the "Muslims are terrorists" rhetoric. | |

| Wait so because he use to go to church with his family makes him have religious beliefs? Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, just as being in a garage doesn't make you a car. | |

| It doesn't seem to me that he was devoutly religious. Therefore i don't think his religion is relevant to what he did. | |

| "He last spoke with the suspect about six years ago." what the pastor has to say is relevant? you might as well ask Ja for his thoughts too... Last edited by infrared AJ6; 07-23-2012 at 03:39 PM.. Reason: you might as well ask Ja for his thoughts... | |

| If it wasn't "I caught him strangling kittens behind the church and sacrificing them to satan six years ago.", then it's not relevant. He doesn't have any important information regarding what happened last week. So why did they interview him? | |
