Jul 15 - US readies robot 'surge' in Iraq to go along with ground troops

President George W. Bush's troop escalation in Iraq is about to get some robotic help, according to Charles Hanley, the[..]ociated Press's Pulitzer Prize winning Special Correspondent.

"The arrival of these outsized U.S. 'hunter-killer' drones, in aviation history's first robot attack squadron, will be a watershed moment even in an Iraq that has seen too many innovative ways to hunt and k!ll," Hanley writes in his Sunday report for AP.

The Air Force will be deploying the 'Reaper' unmanned aerial vehicle squadron in Iraq sometime "between this fall and next spring." The operators or pilots of the drones will continue to be based far away in Nevada.

While drone missions in Iraq are not new, Hanley reveals the long-term planning that is being carried out to possibly make the robotic surge more permanent than the group troop escalation.

"The[..]ociated Press has learned that the Air Force is building a 400,000-square-foot expansion of the concrete ramp area now used for Predator drones here at Balad, the biggest U.S. air base in Iraq, 50 miles north of Baghdad," he writes. "It's another sign that the Air Force is planning for an extended stay in Iraq, supporting Iraqi government forces in any continuing conflict, even if U.S. ground troops are drawn down in the coming years."

An excerpt of Hanley's story is provided below. The full article can be read at this link.

The Air Force's 432nd Wing, a UAV unit formally est@blished on May 1, is to eventually fly 60 Reapers and 160 Predators. The numbers to be[..]igned to Iraq and Afghanistan will be classified.

The Reaper is expected to be flown as the Predator is - by a two-member team of pilot and sensor operator who work at computer control stations and video screens that display what the UAV "sees." Teams at Balad, housed in a hangar beside the runways, perform the takeoffs and landings, and similar teams at Nevada's Creech Air Force Base, linked to the aircraft via satellite, take over for the long hours of overflying the Iraqi landscape.

American ground troops, equipped with laptops that can download real-time video from UAVs overhead, "want more and more of it," said Maj. Chris Snodgrass, the Predator squadron commander here.

The Reaper's speed will help. "Our problem is speed," Snodgrass said of the 140-mph Predator. "If there are troops in contact, we may not get there fast enough. The Reaper will be faster and fly farther."

However, this transition period must be a first step toward more substantial reform. Over the next several decades, the United States must field a global system of missile defenses, divine ways to control the new “international commons” of space and cyberspace, and build new kinds of conventional forces for different strategic challenges and a new technological environment
.

Not only are they talking about testing new weapons technologies, they are also talking about "controlling" space and the internet.

Page 11:
The fourth element in American force posture – and certainly the one which holds the key to any longer-term hopes to extend the current Pax Americana – is the mission to transform U.S. military forces to meet new geopolitical and technological challenges.

This transformation is nothing more than adopting the Wolfowitz doctrine which is the unconstitutional policy of pre-emptive strikes. If there ever was such a thing as a demon, Wolfowitz would be the closest thing.

Page 13:
Moreover, the process of transformation should proceed in a spirit of competition among the services and between service and joint approaches. Inevitably, new technologies may create the need for entirely new military organizations; this report will argue below that the emergence of space as a key theater of war suggests forcefully that, in time, it may be wise to create a separate “space service.”

Only recently has Bush began speaking publicly about using space for a military program. This was published in 2000.

...Thus, it can be foreseen that the process of transformation will in fact be a two-stage process: first of transition, then of more thoroughgoing transformation. The breakpoint will come when a preponderance of new weapons systems begins to enter service, perhaps when, for example, unmanned aerial vehicles begin to be as numerous as manned aircraft. In this regard, the Pentagon should be very wary of making large investments in new programs – tanks, planes, aircraft carriers, for example – that would commit U.S. forces to current paradigms of warfare for many decades to come.

There you have it... over 7 years ago, they planned this whole !!. It's not about freedom, or terrorism, or WMDs. It's about new weapons to fight new wars that were designed by these few men. They also have direct financial ties to the private corporations that manufacture and sell these weapons, and to allow them to also write or even "suggest" foreign policy is ludicrous and is the epitome of corruption.

By the way, this document also touches slightly on the NAU on Page 14:

Across the globe, the trend is for a larger U.S. security perimeter, bringing with it new kinds of missions.

Larger U.S. security perimeter. This is the exact language used in the CFR document, "Building a North American Community. - A known ultra - "Liberal" think tank. The Project For a New American Century is in contrast, a known ultra - "Conservative" think tank. When these two allegedly "opposing" groups begin saying the same things, watch out!

These !!s publish all their plans YEARS and sometimes DECADES before they execute them or even talk about it publicly. If more people would actually READ their publications, i.e.-"know your enemy", we'd all be in a better position to stop them from bull!!tin us.

... And by the way...

Page 51:
...Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.

New Pearl Harbor = 9/11/01
