Jan 5 - Christian Group Against Yoga Class in School (video)

A small but vocal group of parents, spurred on by the head of a local conservative advocacy group, has likened these 30-minute yoga classes to religious indoctrination. They say the classes — part of a comprehensive program offered to all public school students in this affluent suburb north of San Diego — represent a violation of the First Amendment.

Hate to say it, but they might have a point, depending on whether or not Hindu spiritual philosophy is emphasized in these yoga lessons. If it's just the physical activities being taught, and not the spiritual side, then I don't think there's an issue.

I do agree that they would be clamoring in support if this was teaching Christian spirituality, but that doesn't make the first amendment argument wrong, it just makes them hypocrites.

technically they have a point .. but if they rename the class to stress streaching class it would fix it all .... cus yoga is like a general term for peaceful streaching like klinnex is a general term for tissue
