| Feb 3 - President Obama Avoids Pot During Online Chat |
| HIGHTIMES.COM > President Obama Avoids Pot During Online Chat President Obama opted to completely ignore all questions regarding pot legalization and the war on drugs during a national online chat Monday, disappointing cannabis activists across the country. YouTube aired the online event, which was moderated by Google. The exclusion of the marijuana issue from the chat is particularly egregious as 18 of the top 20 most popular questions submitted by those voting on YouTube concerned medical marijuana, cannabis legalization in general, and other drug war-related issues. YouTube is a subsidiary of Google after being purchased by the search engine behemoth in 2006. NORML spokesman Erik Altieri responded via email: For the ninth time, the White House has solicited the American people for direct input on the issues they cared about and then, when the resulting answers called overwhelmingly for marijuana law reform, President Obama ignores the will of the American people on this burning issue. Stephen Dowling, retired deputy chief of police in Los Angeles and a board member of the vital organization Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), submitted the video question that received the most YouTube votes over 4,500. (See the video below.) Dowling responded to being shut out by the President and Google: A majority of Americans now support legalizing marijuana to de-fund cartels and gangs, lower incarceration and arrest rates and save scarce public resources, all while generating new much-needed tax revenue The time to discuss this issue is now. We're tired of this serious public policy crisis being pushed aside or laughed off.

| this just proves that if you think you have any type of say in our government, local and federal, just because you vote, your an idiot. Just because you can say what you want, doesnt mean this isnt a dictatorship, and at this rate, well see how long that lasts... | |

Its not about what I want, its about the fact that issues that actually need reform get crushed, meanwhile every right you have is slowly getting taken away in the name of national security. To add to my dictatorship arguement, who the !! decides if we go to war? a bunch of old men in suits that will never touch a gun or step foot in the fight? exactly. So if they start beefin over economic reasons, its MY job as a young adult to come solve THEIR problems and beef between eachother. I say !! that. You wanna declare war, grab a !!in rifle and join the ranks, dont just sit back behind your desk and issue orders you wouldnt fulfill yourself. Last edited by CMONEY; 02-05-2012 at 09:47 AM..

As soon as I'm wakin up, you know I'm breakin up and bakin up.. I take a puff, and lately some have said I take too much.. They think its dangerous, well maybe there a stranger to.. That awesome marijuana, ganja godness called the canibus.. I'm not a man to judge, but damn it how's a can of Bud.. A whole lot better than a plant that doesn't damage us.. You see we standin up to the man because, he banned the bud.. That could band this world together from Afghanastan to Canada.. But its America where fair is never fair enough.. Unless they getting cash in hand the man don't ever plan to budge.. And how'd they even manage to, scare enough Americans.. To fear a damn plant that's been here since this planet was.. I can't stand it dude, but what ya gonna do?.. The governments corrupt as !!, we all know that, its nothin knew.. So if you love that true buzz that's comin up on you.. Just roll another dozen blunts and let the truth puzzle you..

| I don't understand this though. Am I right or wrong that every state can have people vote for initiatives to make things state law? If all 50 states voted for legalization, this would show what the people support. Having a nicca make an online video and garnering 4,500 votes isn't going to change public policy. We need to start voting collectively in society and making sure everyone speaks their mind. Until then, legalization of marijuana will fail to occur on a federal level. | |

But the more states that legalize it 1st than the better. They tried in maine last year but it missed the ballot because it didn't get enough signatures to get on it... would of been nice to be the 1st state to legalize it.
