can anyone explain more in depth the exact difference/ pros and cons of a credit union compared to a bank?

I'm part of the 64% for now but I've been turned things around the past 3 months.

- Signed up for (Great Site)

- Opened an Ally Bank Account.

- Now putting 10-20% of each check in savings.

- Applied for 2 - 0% APR Balnance Tranfer (18 months) credit cards to speed up paying off my 1st credit card.

I'll be in great shape by the end of next year and will be opening either a CD and/or a Credit Union Account. [pic]

im part of the 36%. been part of that group since about 18 yrs old... pops taught me how to manage my finances. i was buyin stocks at 19 yrs old...

dont have NO WHERE NEAR the dough i use to have due to buying my first house. bought it when i was 23. a lil over 2 yrs later (about to be 26) and im just starting to get my money back up... when you buy a house you gotta put furniture in it, buy a lawn mower, shed, all type of !!... !! hit me like a ton of bricks...

I see peoples bank accounts every day at work. It's actually surprisingly low to me.

You'd be surprised at how many people only ever have $20-$80 in their accounts at ALL times..

I think it's all worth it though. I'm 22 and I'm afraid to buy a house right now. So props to you! I can't wait for the day I'm ready to purchase a nice house!

just dropped 20k down on a car 2 weeks ago, then purchased a week vacation in grand turk the next day.. today i come and im thinking.. which tv do i go get the 70 or the 80 inch for my game room that i dont even go in.. get your money up people... first get an education... second.. stop trickin on hoes.... we are the 36% .... LOL

preciate it bro... rates are at aan all-time low right now... i have a 5.25% rate... thinkin bout refinancing down to 15 yr loan at Navy Federal Credit Union and get that 2.5% (or lower) rate!!

i also been puttin $50 in my son's (almost 4 years old) account once a month since he was born, and he has over $2200... i roll that into a certificate every year so it can make a lil more than the regular low[..] interest rate for a savings account... he's part of the 36%

niccaz wasting money on new schools !! that !!...

Buy me an old school with a decent engine, Im good, I hate bills and do everything I can to stay away from them... That way I can control my money as much as possible...

We spending too much money too early nowadays... Us young folk are mad impatient...

A lot of debt comes from early mistakes: Kids, Spending habits, College (not finishing school), not taking advantage of high school (scholarships,etc.)

Real spit right here.. Some dudes be having like $7 in the bank in military, I'm like how the !!?

But a lot of people join the military with a bunch of baggage, and have a lot of !! to pay.

Luckily, I was patient enough to be broke as !! for awhile without getting into any debt when I joined.

Man my wife got me straight when we got married now we got a nice house both vehicles paid off and well over that in checking and savings....a good woman got me saving right now we straight....but it does get lower a lot lately !! is just getting expensive
