Lol at people hating government intervention but cry the government is not doing enough to create job. If you have a high school education and have done nothing to advance yourself what kind of job do you think you are going to get. If you go to college and get an art degree you are going to be in the same boat.

Don't have the elitist attitude that you deserve a job if you want to work and cant find work create your own company or get more skills to be attractive to employers. There are to many government programs that will help people with these skills but they are too lazy to jump on those. (and i don't want to hear about families and time restraints)

Man you are so out of touch with reality...

Are you well off or something? You sound like you dont any a clue what its like to be an avg young adult in today's society.

Having a degree/not having a degree means jack shiit!!! Most hedgefund managers, and banksters didnt land their jobs because of their degree's.

Why should people have to spend 200k to get a job making 30k a year? This is the reality. Most of the college students are in debt before they even graduate, many of them are paying their loans now before they even land their first job.

There is no pull yourself up by the boot straps anymore. Those days are over.

You get a degree for 150-200k and you work for a cooperation for pennies compared to what the avg ceo makes. Starting a biz is impossible, entrepreneurship is dead... How can the the small hardware store in the neighborhood compete with big chain stores? How can mom and pop shops create jobs and compete with walmarts, and targets selling cheap chinese junk.

Dude do you not see whats going on? Are you rich? Have you ever struggled? Either you are part of the baby boomer generation, or you are from money. I dont wanna hear it man.

Unless you're becoming a doctor or a lawyer, how the hell did you come up with $200,000 for college? [pic]

My family came up from nothing... and I came out just fine BECAUSE of college.

Fact... In order to even land a career paying a substantial amount you have to have a PHD...

I say 200k because of college+grad school... Thats books and stuff included.

But the avg undergrad is about 30k in debt.

You're making it a lot worse than it really is. Its not impossible to start a business & people shouldn't be attending college if they can't afford it.

You're right. If you're too poor to afford college, then sorry son. Just work at McDonalds. You're kids and theirs can do the same too. It's not the ridiculous cost of higher education that's putting MILLIONS of 20 year olds in mortgage type debt. It's because those poor people shouldn't be going to college if they can't afford it. NVM that we're the ONLY country that puts its future generations in ridiculous debt for a better education. The system isn't the problem [pic]

Then why do people choose to go to college then? To be educated and proven qualified to independently consult/run business. Not saying to "open your own company" because entreprenuership is run by knowledge and money, and "you need money to make money." Most college students are in debt paying for their education at an underachieving job working hard, mentally and physically to find a break. I never thought my degree would be a gamble in 2012. I never thought I would be so overlooked in the bottomless pit of online applications and choosy HR managers that can only offer me the same "though your resume is outstanding, we'll continue out search for a better candidate" or "well, we have part-time available" 2+ months after I applied. No wonder why so many grads never work in the field they study.

"Its not what you know...its who you know" couldn't be more important today. Experience is everything. Unpaid Internships have become quick money schemes to run college students into an early grave, i.e. pro bono temp work.

The K-12 education system needs to be tightened. More emphasis on business edicate, finance, and psychology. !! history and algorithms.

It's not a requirement to wear gloves when handling food, i mean when you fix a burger at home to do wear gloves. fast food workers are just supposed to was their hands before and after they touch any food

Do you think poor people are the only ones that can't afford something? I already posted an article that showed that the college debt burden falls the heaviest upon upper middle class families. Affordability includes scholarships, grants, and other financial aid, anything that helps pay so a large student loan is not taken out. So yes, a poor person shouldn't attend college if they can't afford it. A middle class person shouldn't attend college if they can't afford it, anyone who can't afford it, should wait until they can or not go at all. Just because its college doesn't mean simple financial logic shouldn't apply.

And don't act like a good amount of McDonald's workers aren't college graduates.

You sound so ignorant.
The problem is the price of education.
Not that fact that people cant afford it and still try to better themselves.
What are you the CEO of JP Morgan lol.
Keep the poor poorer and the uneducated even more uneducated.

Trying to make college affordable for all, is one of the main causes of tuition increases.

The poor can go to school for free given that they stay in state due to FAFSA.
It's those that are neither rich or poor who are out of luck with the high tuition (upper middle class).

?
I was a poor kid that went to college.

In a way dude is right, IF you can't get enough money to make it so that you are not in alot of debt then you need to rethink your strategy.....

HOWEVER, to say if you are poor then you shouldn't go to college....well thats just stupid nicca !![pic][pic][pic]

Everyone should go to college....IF THEY FEEL THAT THEY HAVE THE MOTIVATION, AND SKILLS TO APPLY THEIR DEGREE. Otherwise !! um. People that didn't go to college after HS are in the best possible position, I tell my brother this often. NO FUKIN DEBT-Debt is the NEW SLAVERY

Ain't nothing wrong with low wage jobs....if you don't have college or any kind of debt, don't have a family to feed or people that depend on you and your bills are low. unfortunately this aint the case for most americans. America has exported all the jobs that built this country and is importing all the workforce that can advance this country. Americans are steadily becoming more obsolete. Jobs are cutting their workforce down to the smallest possible margins, giving workers less time to make money, MORE workloads to complete, and getting rid of older workers to save money.

We !!ed yall, time to start thinking outside the box, I'm tryin my best to see where I can get in where I fit in
