RIP my 80gb ps3

Got YLOD, it's a wrap

I ain't gna call Sony cos I had my ps3 for like 2yrs and dey want £99 or £128 and when dey do fix it u only get 3 months warranty. f**k all dat I'm just gna take a break ffrom ps3

2 questions thou, how do I get fifa out da ps3? It won't turn on

And how can I get my saved data to a new ps3?

If the PS3 is giving you the YLOD then I'm going to say that you won't be getting back your saved data. I don't know if you can hook up the PS3 hdd to a PC as a slave drive and read info off of it.

But with that being said there's 3 things you can do.

1- Take the Hard drive out of the PS3. Hook it up to your PC as a slave drive. Do a full format of the drive. Pop it back in the PS3 and re-install the OS. It might ask you for a firmware disc which you can find online, download, burn onto a cd use that. I've read that this does fix the YLOD but it's not 100%. Doesn't hurt to try tho.

2- If #1 DOES fix your YLOD then I would suggest doing an upgrade of the thermal paste aswell. Very easy fix and it's cheap thing to do. Once again, it's doesn't hurt to do this since it's known that 1 cause of the YLOD is the thermal paste going bad.

3- If you don't want to try 1 or 2 that then you'll need to open up the case, remove the Blu-Ray drive, then open the casing on that in order to get FIFA out. Follow this tutorial -> Playstation 3 Disassembly Tutorial
