Accurately guessing what his actions would be, Konoha puts special teams together in order to capture Sasuke's target, the Akatsuki Uchiha Itachi. Thus starts the pursuing mission!!

Text: The two Konoha squads enact their battle plans. Even though they get a chance to successfully make contact with both Itachi and Sasuke, they are hindered by the Akatsuki Tobi, and they miss the opportunity. Sasuke's disappearance, and the enigmatic Tobi: the foreshadowing of a new threat against Konoha!!

And with the addition of the Nija Hounds, Konoha launches a large-scale operation to track down Sasuke's scent. In the meantime, Hebi makes use of Karin and Juugo's ablities to investigate Akatsuki's hideouts and Itachi, while constantly making sure to circumvent the Konoha party's exploration techniques. Specificities of the five great Nature Alterations

(Wind) Blade-like chakra to behead, split and sever anything and anyone. Used with special ninja tools or in jutsu, it has the best offensive ability in close to medium range.

In the deepest confines of the labyrinthine passages, they confront Uchiha Sasuke. With a glacial stare, Sasuke draws his sword towards his former friends without the faintest of hesitations. The squad teams up against him, but Orochimaru and Kabuto interrupt the fight. Whatever really motivated them to vanish into the dark even though they had the high ground (tn: How about... Plot no jutsu)?!

Caption: Two teams go forth from the Leaf and from the Sand
Text: Konohagakure's Team 7 proceeds to Sunagakure as Team A. Once they are done treating the wounded Sand ninja and gathering information, they are joined by the Suna councilor Chiyo, and the four-units team moves towards the River country. The next day, Team Guy departs from Konoha as Team B. Both teams meet up in the Akatsuki's hideout in the River country.

Text: Plotting to seal the Ichibi possessed by the Kazekage, Akatsuki deploys an effort to thwart each one of the retrieval teams. By the time both of the teams anihilates their obstacles and meet up, it's already too late... Ichibi is sealed. The Kazekage dead. The teams split up again, so they can breach the Five-Seals based Kekkai (kekkai=spiritual barrier). Then, team A successfully infiltrates the hideout and confronts the Akatsuki.

Caption: Whereabouts of a fight that teeters in the interval between life and death.

Text: Over 80 years ago, nations would fight repeatedly for the expansion of their interests and territories. In the middle, were the armed folk those nations would use as weapons. These people were called "shinobi". In those times when hidden villages didn't exist, shinobi assembled into clans and made their ways in life in that fashion.

Text: Dreaded as "the thousand-handed clan", they gathered prodigies in all kinds of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu techniques. The first among them was Senju Hashirama of the Mokuton. In a world of belligerent countries, he's a legendary shinobi who pushed the way to the zenith to extreme heights.

Text: Among the shinobi crowd, there were two clans all nations would unanimously employ. The Senju clan and the Uchiha clan. Should a country hire Senju, the opposing country would hire the Uchiha: before anyone knew, it became a recognizable pattern, as both sides were endowed with outstanding power. Undoubtedly, the latter periods of the war era had become a conflict between the two of them.

Caption: Reaching towards the conclusion of a lengthy conflict

Text: The era of war came to an end when Senju and Uchiha made peace. The two powers formed a shinobi alliance, made a pact with the Land of Fire and established the Hidden Leaf village. The creation of the strongest organization which, acting as a war deterrent force, would quiet down conflicts everywhere.

Upon losing the battle for supremacy, Madara deserted, and because of his "revenge" the village's higher echelons grew wary of the Uchiha. And with the Kyuubi's attack incident, their suspicion and fear of the clan became definite.

Text: Mangekyou Sharingan. These eyes are awakened by killing one's closest friend.
