If you have no sound then you need audio drivers. I'm not to sure what kind of sound card you have but you can find some easily either on the manufactures website or doing a Google search. Just make sure its compatible with your device.

Download and run everest home edition from lavalys.com to identify the exact soundcard and then google for drivers. Try driverguide.com
Have you tried to update driver using the wizard in devicemanager and let windows do the websearch?
or read this article.

if the sound card is a PCI card - you need to open up the PC and find out the manufacturer & model of the sound card

if the sound card is onboard (part of the motherboard) you need to find out the make/model of your motherboard and get drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.

if it is a laptop get drivers from the laptop manufacturer

it's really that easy.

From your description it sounds like you already have the sound installed (no mention of yellow exclamation mark). If so then you probably need the chipset driver installed. If not then disregard the above comment.

As stated above, if its not a custom build Machine then google the manufacturers website , ie - Dell, Hp, Sony, etc. Then go to drivers/support/downloads section. Search/type in your model number. There you will find drivers for all the hardware in your machine. Most manufacturers website's, still have drivers for machines that are upto and over 9 years old.

If the machine is custom built then 22k has already posted the resolution for you.

Your missing Chipset, modem, network, graphics. I'm not 100% sure you have the correct sound drivers installed, looks like generic XP ones.

-What's the Make and model of your PC?
-Did you not get a driver or support CD with it?

Judging from your taskbar, you have internet access:

-Go to the Windows update site (Start > All Programs > Windows Update) and download all updates including SP2 & 3. Once your fully upto date you should be able to go to device manager right on a yellow exclamation mark and select update driver.

Select the top option "Yes, this time only" and then select "install software automatically". Do this for each device. There's a chance it will find the drivers and install them for you.
