Toshiba L305D-S5895 not connecting to wi-fi, but light indicator is on? Atheros not read

I am using Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895, with Windows 7 Home Premium.

My laptop has been running beautifully since I updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium in Fall 2009. However, today the laptop has not been connecting to the wi-fi. It could not read the Atheros wireless card built into the laptop, and the all the network settings showed was the Ethernet adapter (realtek). I tried restarting and shutting down the laptop but it still did not read the wireless card (though the wireless light on the laptop was on, indicating that the wireless is on). Then, after 4 hours of leaving the laptop shut down, the wireless started again. However, a half hour later it was down again, with the same problems already stated. The light was on and the card was not read. During my time online, I did manage to download the driver update from Toshiba’s website (Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 7 (32/64). I tried to install it but I received error messages, including:

I tried again but I still received this message, but with a different file:

If anyone has any information non how to fix this, please let me know. I have no Ethernet connectivity and I need to use the wi-fi.

i would go into device manager and uninstall all network adapters
restart, let windows update the drivers automatically
if this doesn't solve your issue, i'd reinstall windows
if that didn't solve it,then i'd buy a new wifi card

there seemed to be no other solution to the proble. I am not sure what was going on (nor did Toshiba) so I think it is a failing wireless card. I have a new one now so I'm all set. thanks man!
